View Full Version : CHILDREN are entering the house
Just confirmed on BOTS, 4-6 year olds will enter the house as part of a task
They'll be going in over the weekend and it'll be a battle of the sexes to see which gender looks after the children the best

Hasnt that just been for very short periods of time though..like the ignore the obvious type tasks? I don't remember any other times kids have been in but if the task is about who can look after kids better (sexist much?!) then surely they willneed to be there for a while.

Did anyone else think that he said the housemates will be looking after 46 year olds?

The use of "over the weekend" and the way they said it's a "Big Brother first" makes me imagine the children are staying over :worry:

Oh please enough of pushing the gender stuff now they were doing so well why try and push the envelope by putting in a bunch of kids?
Please don't tell me it's the billionaire babies from that new channel 5 show. I heart kids they are hilarious and very honest...BRUTALLY HONEST!....this could be genius or a dulling down as housemates for the next few episodes will have to "act" again in a very formal way which could be very boring.
im sure parents out there put their annoying children to bed and just want to watch people of their own age? Sorry channel 5 just stopped you enjoying your glass...or bottle of wine and me time.

Ugh, 'Steph-on-knee' is such a creepy pervert its unbelievable. I feel slightly sick just seeing photos of 'her'. I do think 'she' is one of the pisstakers. Not 'genuinely trans'.

I wonder if this is why production semeingly wanted India out (head to head...3 way or more she would have stayed easily) you know. One or more of the kids would be likely to 'misgender' her. My daughter who is 5 can tell men from women easily, even when the men are in makeup and such. Led to quite an embarassing situation on a bus actually. A person got on, little dress, perfect hair and makeup...and my daughter who is 5 pointed at them and said quite loudly 'thats a boy mammy, why is he wearing a dress'. I was a bit mortified but the guy was fine about it. Sat talking to her for a bit and was telling her about how some boys like to wear makeup and look 'like girls' and such. Still never found out if he was just a feminine guy, trans or a drag queen actually.
Can't see India recting well to persistant misgendering...even if it is by kids.

It’s great how kids aren’t really taught gender stereotypes nowadays in such an aggressive format as they were before, and the difference between what i was taught and observing teaching when i’m at work is really quite something.
i remember being told at primary school that “blue is for boys and pink is for girls.” In addition to this, the word “gay” was banned, no matter what context it was used in. I’m 25, so this is probably going back around 2000-2002, which is actually quite a long time ago thinking about it.
not too long ago, the school had an assembly where a female firefighter, a male nurse and a policewoman came in to try and tackle gender stereotypes in the workplace and I think it worked. I would also say that I am also an example of fighting gender stereotypes in the workplace to an extent because previously, male primary school teachers/teaching assistants were almost unheard of, whereas there are increasingly more and more men taking on the job, which I think is fantastic. I was never taught by a man until secondary school, but I think that equality is so important
Almost certain that nobody shouts the word TRANSEXUALS at their children as a response.

I think gender stereotypes are worse today than when I was a kid actually. Even ****ing kider eggs are 'gendered' . Pink princess ones for girls, blue monster/superhero ones for boys. My kids get both tbh, and my husband whinges a bit when I bring my son in with the princess ones (though oddly enough doesn't really say anything when I get my daughter the blue one)..and when I let him put my daughters Elsa dress on and that..but I reckon, kids are ****ing kids. Kids like dress up. Boys like pretty things and sometimes girls like to get dirty. If my boy wants to wear a princess dres, whats the bloody harm D:

I don't have to be a parent to witness how their elders can easily affect things they say and believe....infact we all pick stuff up off our parents.
I grew up looking after my little brother and cousins half my age who would pick up any swear word I said thank god they've now come into their own but at the time they were like sponges.
Never babysit and sing Winnie the **** instead of winnie the poo because when the parents come home and they are still singing it you get into trouble.

Well, who knows what pronoun that person preferred. Just because he wore a dress and makeup doesn't mean he wanted to be known as "she".

I said nothing at all about him at all  He sat in the priority seat bit on the bus while she was in her pram so he was opposite her and she literally pointed right at him and spoke pretty loudly. I did apologize but thats when he said all was fine and started talking to her about boys liking wearing makeup and such. I assume from what he said that he is the right pronoun for him though...as surely he wouldn't be talking bout himself as a boy who likes to wear makeup if he was trans. I am not sure though as as I said, still not sure if he was trans, just feminine or a drag queen  Have to admit though, glad he was on about challenging stereotypes, rather than trying to tell her he has a female brain or something...not sure how I would have handled that :S So I guess I was lucky in that respect

Yeah thats just daft. I don't see how NOT imposing stereotypes on our kids means we are making them question their gender, at all. Making them question their gender would be rigidly enforcing stereptypes surely..as then for example little boys will think 'Oh well I like wearing dresses and want to look pretty...that must mean I am actually a girl' and such. Rather than them knowing its entirely normal to like both feminine and masculine things and stereotypes/preferences have no relation to wether you are a boy or a girl.

on the transgender debate though, does a trans person’s parents normally re-name them? because india said that her mum (Sandra) named her after her favourite takeaway. and idk about you, but i have never gotten anything from my local Jonathan , so I assume that she means that her mum named her India after an Indian takeaway? I just thought that you would choose your own name yourself

I am not sure though as as I said, still not sure if he was trans, just feminine or a drag queen  Have to admit though, glad he was on about challenging stereotypes, rather than trying to tell her he has a female brain or something...not sure how I would have handled that :S So I guess I was lucky in that respect
You arnt getting what im saying...even now you're calling that person he and him and probably don't even know you're doing it. Not your fault and you shouldn't be made to feel bad about it either it's just how you feel instinctively about trans women.
You aren't comfortable with calling someone who wasn't born female she....am I wrong?
I do agree that kids can form their own opinion and if someone looks particularly like a man in a dress ofcourse they will comment and as awkward as it is they speak their mind....ive been in the situation with my brother cmoment ing on someone's appearence on a train once and it's mortifying.
But that's what's make kids great I suppose lol.

I fellover the cat the other day and really hurt my toe and shouted 'that ****ing cat' and apparently my daughter went into school to tell the teacher about 'the ****ing cat' D: So that was a fun conversation..
sorry but i find this quite funny  reminds me of our Dod (one of my housemates) when our dog started sleeping on “his spot” on the sofa. “shift yer arsh, tricia”
i made him sit on the floor for speaking to our dog like that
so he went out
on the transgender debate though, does a trans person’s parents normally re-name them? because india said that her mum (Sandra) named her after her favourite takeaway. and idk about you, but i have never gotten anything from my local Jonathan , so I assume that she means that her mum named her India after an Indian takeaway? I just thought that you would choose your own name yourself
:joker: mess I'm sorry I'm imagining Sandra holding India's hand in line at the office while India waits in preparation to hear what her mum's called her, and when she says 'India' she asks why, and that entire conversation comes up
The name change is on the person's own accord, regardless of age. My friend has his name changed to the name he preferred (he's trans and had his name changed when he was 15, I think it was legally but I don't know?) and my friend's brother also changed his name, and he's 13 and trans... ironically they both chase the same name

India was being sarcastic about that :joker: And India transitioned at like 50 y/o so I think she's old enough to name herself :joker:

I think that story was made up. I think India chose that name. i don't think India would have let her mum have a say in it..

But I don't know if he is actually trans, or is just a feminine guy who likes stereotypically womens clothing, or a drag queen (granted he would be a less..brash...drag queen if thats what he was) :suspect: He did not clarify this. And given he was on about boys liking to wear makeup, that does sound to me like he is the correct pronoun to use anyway
I use preferred pronouns generally. My issue with India was that as she was going on constantly about being male, so I was ****ing up on pronouns. So was attempting to not **** up by using entirely gender neutral pronouns. After our talk the other day though I did try with she, and only messed up twice which wasn't as bad as I thought  I actually didn't realise people would find gender neutral pronouns quite so offensive. My brain had such a disconnect with India...

I **** up with this all of the time...makes me feel like a terrible parent but I am such a sweary person that it just comes out a lot. My husband goes mental with me over it but swearing is just such a normal part of my everyday language and has been for like 16 years now that even after 5 years of having young ones around I still mess up, regularly. I fellover the cat the other day and really hurt my toe and shouted 'that ****ing cat' and apparently my daughter went into school to tell the teacher about 'the ****ing cat' D: So that was a fun conversation..
Haha omg! Yeah I can't compare to being a parent but as the only elder boy in my family looking after the kids when I was younger I know what you mean.
I called my dog a twat once for malting all over the clean washing and guess the word the little ones picked up for him? ....twat.

Just confirmed on BOTS, 4-6 year olds will enter the house as part of a task
They'll be going in over the weekend and it'll be a battle of the sexes to see which gender looks after the children the best
Thank god that this isn't happening on the BBC.:hehe:
Yes I made a below the belt comment, but they're the best jokes.

The use of "over the weekend" and the way they said it's a "Big Brother first" makes me imagine the children are staying over :worry:
They won't be staying over. As the house is being recorded 24/7, they're technically "performing" the entire time they're in there, and at their age that can't be over five hours. Also, there will be parents/chaperones following them around in the camera run at all times, they're not allowed to let them out of their sight.
