..yeah it obviously indicates that you find something boring in an openly demonstarative way...and also what I found quite interesting last night and maybe a bit ‘telling’...was when Jess used the F word in the haunted/scary task, she apologised immediately but Ann said shhh as well...that was her immediate response to something she disapproved of, just shhh and nothing else and then all done and dusted ...but with Shane J and Andrew’s rough and tumble play fight, she didn’t just say oh stop it you two, you’re being immature or a bit loud or a bit boisterous or whatever...and that play fight wasn’t all done and dusted for her because she not only nominated it as a reason but she described it as ‘obscene’ as well...I think she seems very much to me as someone who would have her ‘admonishment’ be befitting of what she felt was the ‘offence’...so maybe another indication of homophobic traits in her character....?...

I neither like or dislike Ann and can see positive and negative aspects to her character - like all people her character is not black and white but multi dimensional.

However, rolling your eyes when someone is talking is bad manners and rude, and something normally associated with stroppy teenagers. I do think by her age she should have refined her social skills and developed a little more tolerance and respect for others.

She feels uncomfortable around that behaviour...it was her reason for nominating him..that's because she wanted a reason. If she didn't like Jess she would use the swearing as a reason...but she loves Jess and Jess apologised.

Indeed.

Also I have seen some people say that she was rolling her eyes as she is homophobic. People seem to forget that she had the exact same reaction a week or so ago, in a similar kind of task, but it was Ashley who she thought was going on and on rather than just quickly saying her piece.

Very rude, and actually really childish as well, for someone who's often lauded on here for her maturity and respect... if it had been Shane rolling his eyes whilst Ann was telling a story about her life he'd be accused of disrespect/ageism/trying to silence Ann, etc etc. But no it was Ann who did it and Shane dealt with it by meeting her rudeness with politeness respect and maturity, and yet he's the one in the wrong in some peoples eyes, not her? I really don't get it at all

The fact he happened to be looking at her when she rolled her eyes tells you everything you need to know. He was provoking her same as he did when he ran to the tub half naked. Then when he got his response he pounced. Big game player.

How was he provoking her by noticing she rolled her eyes at him though? She did it repeatedly because she wanted him to notice... it was her provoking him?

..yeah it obviously indicates that you find something boring in an openly demonstarative way...and also what I found quite interesting last night and maybe a bit ‘telling’...was when Jess used the F word in the haunted/scary task, she apologised immediately but Ann said shhh as well...that was her immediate response to something she disapproved of, just shhh and nothing else and then all done and dusted ...but with Shane J and Andrew’s rough and tumble play fight, she didn’t just say oh stop it you two, you’re being immature or a bit loud or a bit boisterous or whatever...and that play fight wasn’t all done and dusted for her because she not only nominated it as a reason but she described it as ‘obscene’ as well...I think she seems very much to me as someone who would have her ‘admonishment’ be befitting of what she felt was the ‘offence’...so maybe another indication of homophobic traits in her character....?...

Well said Ammi. And what's interesting as well is that she actually only started rolling her eyes when Shane mentioned his sexuality, it's not a huge coincidence. And it was almost as soon as he started speaking rather than because he'd been talking for a while like she made it out to be when he called her out on it. So yeah, her reason for doing it is pretty obvious to me. And like you say it was demonstrative, it wasn't just the one eye roll, she was trying to get him to notice and she was trying to silence him.

The topic for discussion is Ann rolling her eyes when Shane was talking so that is what I have commented on, rather than on any other topic.

Perhaps we would have more balanced and less angry and extreme comments if everyone focused on the topic of discussion rather than trying to bring every other incident into it.

I don't understand why, if someone supports Ann, there seems to be complete character assassination of Shane and vice versa. There is positive and negative in everyone but too many seem to be speaking as if housemates can only be good or bad- human beings are much more complex than that.

If everyone was a little more objective there would be less need for anyone to be 'up in arms' about petty actions. Therefore, I'm not going to be 'up in arms' about Ann rolling her eyes or about Shane running through the lounge waving his arms. There are more important things in the world to react to in that way but the incidents mentioned do not merit that response.

It was rude, but I don't think it has anything to do with homophobia. She rolls her eyes at people a lot. That is a bit of a pet peeve of mine with her, that she has to advertise what she is feeling constantly (especially in facial expressions)...

But to be fair, I rolled my eyes when watching the episode back late last night because all Shane knows how to do is talk about himself, what he thinks and gay rights.

I think some of us would be guilty of the same thing Ann is doing if we were in the house. I can see that grating after a while. I mean he was lowkey India-ing and purposefully drawing more attention to himself in several scenes yesterday, but that doesn't make Ann's facial reactions any less annoying to be quite fair.

I don't think anyone is saying it is either acceptable or unacceptable to be rude- as you say, it happens every season. I think the point is that if a housemate chooses to be rude, then viewers will draw conclusions from that, so there are consequences.

I don't think anyone is saying it is either acceptable or unacceptable to be rude- as you say, it happens every season. I think the point is that if a housemate chooses to be rude, then viewers will draw conclusions from that, so there are consequences.Joey LITERALLY said it was unacceptable?

That's not quite how I read his comment but my main point is still the same - that if housemates choose to be rude then they are going to be judged on that by viewers.

It's unbelievable. Marsh.

Moments of rudeness can be acceptable, however as the highlights have shown, this rudeness of Ann towards singled out Shane J,is not just a moment of rudeness.
She does it all very often.

That is what should be and is unacceptable. Here's the actual post in case you need to read it again.

its an ann thing, the rolling of the eyes. she looks down at HMs actions a lot, shes very disapproving, she doesnt approve of light hearted fun, hints at anything sexual, & we all know her dislike of anything connected to homosexuality. shes a very negative person

Don't be so rude. It's so unnecessary and says a lot more about you than it does about me. Ironic really in a post discussing rudeness.

I'm quite capable of reading the words in front of me, but I'm talking about interpreting those words. Joey says one moment of rudeness is acceptable but repeated and ongoing rudeness is unacceptable.

Responding to you in the manner you have used: What can I say if you can't interpret the finer points of his comment?

In future, don't respond to my points if you don't have any manners.

Got what he deserved.

Notice how that moment was suppose to be about Wayne and the self absorbent twit still made it about him and was rambling on . And Ann could see he was just going on and on .
