He'd be the wrong leader of the Conservatives to hopefully bring them back to compassionate Conservatism.

Somehow however, I don't mind Rees-Mogg.
I think he'd be better than the leader they have now for sure.

I think sadly, there's a shortage of really high profile likely front runners in all Parties.

Ruth Davidson would be a better bet for the Cons,I also like Matt Hancock too.
Politics in the UK seems a sad place to be at present.

For me,we need a Nicola Sturgeon.
I know that will get derision but I really admire Nicola.

No, because he voted against gay marriage and for measures that would impede all of our human rights multiple times as well as voting to impement measures that makes life harder for the people in this country that need help the most. Anyone that votes to not increase disability benefits and decrease welfare when everything is steadily becoming more expensive is scum. Voting to implement the bedroom tax is scummy. Voting against tax increases aimed at hte rich is vile as is scummy. Voting against a smoking ban just because he has investments in the Tobacco industry is downright corrupt.

He is scum.

Did anyone ever claim he was an angel?! Even the most vocal of supporters of his seem to generally acknowledge that he is Really Not A Nice Person.

I don't know much about him tbh. what I do know is not good. he seems even more hypocritical than other MPs, and thats saying something  Apparently vehemently against abortion (even in cases of rape), but profits from abortion pills. Bloody ridiculous

That's the problem, people do like him. He's a cultural Icon in Eton, Cambridge and Oxford and he's the cute Harry Potter for a lot of people who read right wing propaganda.

He's a vile saboteur and an enemy of the people. He's UKIP on steroids and the scariest man in parliament.

Senior Government sources have revealed that ministers believe supporters of the popular backbench MP who has emerged as “the darling of the party” are manoeuvring to ensure he wins a possible leadership contest in the coming months even though he has strongly denied harbouring ambitions for the job.

The Daily Express has also learnt that Ukip members are being approached to join the Conservative Party by supporters of Mr Rees-Mogg in the hope it could ensure his victory.

A former Ukip parliamentary candidate said: “It is certainly an attractive idea. With the Tories in the state they are and only around 70,000 members we could help make sure Jacob wins and Britain has a real Brexit PM

What we are facing is a government corrupt with rule and divide with Brexiteers and Hard-Brexiteers and Reece-Mogg along with Johnson and papers like The Daily Express are at the forefront of stirring up civil unrest.

Nothing about him is in the best interest of our nation. Much as I don't like May. Much as I see her as a coward; throwing her over a cliff so he can inherit a government who want to change the 'Rule of Law' is a very frightening prospect. Mogg goes on about a soft Brexit and a 'Vassal State' without mentioning a part of bureaucracy that ensures things like clean beaches, unpolluted air and protecting workers rights. In his shambolic rhetoric he doesn't mention or condemn the governments new department of International Trade where another bureaucracy will ensure we don't have any of those things. We are merely swapping one union for extreme capitalism which will make all but the thriving landowners worse off

On a serious note. Do you have any real idea why people are so angry about this man?

It's ridiculous really, since when have people agreed with others opinions. Even amongst my closest friends I can completely disagree with their opinions, and yet we are still good friends and don't resort to the kind of crap all these seemingly intolerant people do. Having a difference of opinion does not make someone scum or any other similar derogatory adjective.

Is it the same? Disagreeing with a friend and disagreeing with a politician who may actively vote to ruin your, or somebody else's life?

Like I do get the point your making, I just don't think that it's valid.

people voted him in as their MP to represent him, so enough of them trust him to vote on their behalf. It's the peoples choice.

People would literally vote for a zombie if it wore a blue tie in some constituencies  i'd imagine the sharp majority of voters dont even know their local MP's name.

he has been around for long enough for people to boot him out if he didnt align with their wishes. He could have been deselected by his local party. He wasn't. I mean the same principles apply whatever party an MP is with. There are staunch labour areas that have produced MP's that I completely disagree with

Thats cool, you would be entitled to dislike those MP's... Especially if they were as backwards as Mogg... People just are entitled to dislike MP's, thats just something youre gonna have to get used to, it isnt at all similar to having a disagreement with a mate.

My view is for a wider issue for the Con Party.

If it desires to move on from the harder line of its last 2 administrations.
Then it will look for a fresh new look and leader who represents more compassion.

If it is content with this continuing uncompromising hardline attitude, then unfortunately someone like Rees-Mogg could be their choice.
