Daily Mirror owner strikes £200m deal to buy Daily Express and Daily Star publisher

Newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror has agreed a near-£200m deal to buy a string of Northern & Shell titles including the Daily Express and Daily Star.

The deal will see the publisher of the Daily Mirror snap up national newspaper titles the Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday and three celebrity magazines OK!, New! and Star.

It will also hold a 50pc slice of the Irish Daily Star.

The acquisition price is £126.7m, but Trinity Mirror will also make a one-off £41.2m payment into the Northern & Shell pension scheme, then a further £29.2m through to 2027.

I'm screaming at the thought of one of the Express' reactionary readers sitting down with their breakfast, ready for another day of being indoctrinated with some good old fashioned immigrant bashing and Muslim hating (with a bit of Diana adoration thrown in for good measure), when all of a sudden they see the first front page of the newly owned edition, and spit their cornflakes out in confusion and rage

I’m screaming at others screaming. Nothing like a dose of hype and moral highgrounds from those every bit as indoctrinated as those they accuse - just marching to a different tune. None so blind as those that will not see.
