X Factor bosses are contemplating a big shake-up of the new series – and may axe the Sunday night show. In a bid to freshen things up and take on rival Strictly Come Dancing, producers are also thinking about getting rid of the boot camp section. A source said ITV believes the programme may work better by returning to a single show on a Saturday.

If they're gonna go straight from auditions to the Six Chair Challenge then they have to be harsher in the auditions round and not let so many dud acts get through. For this you need a tougher panel, so take it back to three (Simon, Mel B and Cheryl ideally) and create the rule that an act needs all 3 yes' to progress to the next round. Then you'll get the best of the best acts to compete in 6 chairs. If they really wanted Simon could bring forward the Golden Buzzer of something similar, idk a Golden Ticket, that says if they believe an act has real potential but they only got two yes' then they automatically get to sing again at 6 chairs to prove they're better than their first audition.
Then just have the three categories as 'Boys and Girls', 'Overs' and 'Groups'. Obviously the rest works the same; six acts from each go the JH, four acts from each go to Live Shows (I'd even be tempted to say 5 from each to get up to 15 acts not 12) and then we have around 10 weeks of Live Shows with a Judges Vote (there'd be no need for deadlock with three pannellists).

buts deadlock is all I want back :worry:
IMO I do think it should be stricter, but could still be so with 4 judges. I think Louis, Alesha, Simon & Cheryl. Getting the right acts to 6CC wouldn’t be too difficult as they done that in 2013 & 2014 (except they did have room auditions & arena auditions). Maybe they could just go back to arena auditions as then it’s essier to see the standout talent. What they need is a strict format too though, no bringing acts back, no wildcards, no swapping in and out and in and out. That ruins the whole format of the show and viewers see right through it. Just 12 acts through to live shows (10 weeks) with maybe 1 wildcard then, via public vote idk
