UKIP members have voted to sack leader Henry Bolton after controversy over racist messages sent by his partner.

The former army officer's fate was decided after 63% voted to back a no confidence motion at an extraordinary general meeting in Birmingham.

He had faced calls to quit after it emerged his partner Jo Marney sent racist messages about Meghan Markle.

The party will announce an interim leader later and an leadership election will take place within 90 days.

Mr Bolton, who had been in the job for less than six months, was elected in September in the wake of UKIP's disastrous performance in last year's general election.

The party's national executive committee expressed no confidence in him last month, triggering the ballot.

Outgoing chairman Paul Oakden said: "Henry Bolton has been removed by the democratic decision of the membership".

Mr Bolton lost the no confidence motion by 867 votes to 500.

Nice one.

What a farce this has been allowed to become however.
Really UKIP must now have lost all credibility.

Did they ever have much credibility to lose?

Not for me Annie,I always saw them as divisive and intolerant.

I do have to concede that under Farage and his persistent determination , there would likely never have been an EU referendum.
Whether that turns out as a good thing or not for the UK,(in my view still not),only time will now tell I guess.

At this point they might as well wind up, they've had six(?) leaders in a couple of years, lost their MPs and most of their councillors and the party is now nearly bankrupt

I hope the party falls apart and descends into total obscurity. I will never forgive Farrage and UKIP for their part in forcing the Referendum that resulted in Brexit! Good riddance to the fascists in UKIP.

Odd move. Their unique selling point was that they were utter ****e, so you'd think they'd keep a bloke like this.

The fascists have't gone anywhere, as instructed they have assimilated back into the conservative party.

I'm waiting for the day the torys infiltrating Labour do the same.

I think when you call people Fascists you rather lose any credibility you were hoping for?

Really, Why is that?

It's a descriptor like any other isn't it, should a member use a post describing a subsection as 'PC' or 'sjw' or 'snowflakes' would you suggest the same to them that their generlisation renders their credibility lost?

I have not experienced this, in fact those who use such terms appear galvanised by others, especially here... that's very odd isn't it?

:joker: All UKIP rambled on about was Brexit & immigration !!! boring bunch of losers !! :bored: , they pushed us into a referendum that never needed to happen in the first place !! .

UKIP have no redeeming qualities, they're a copy of BNP but they try to dress things up so they don't sound too "offensive" .

You do realise majority of people voting LEAVE didn't understand Brexit ?? . It wasn't fair to put this decision on us .

And other people just didn't bother voting as they couldn't be bothered or again they didn't understand it fully .

UKIP did their job before Farage left.I always thought it was only a matter of time before they died out. They had no purpose after the ref.
There’s been infighting since Nige left. There’s two factions. The pro Farage and the Anti.Bolton was Farages man. What this i think shows is that the anti Farage contingent in the party is quite abit larger.

I’d disagree.I’d say it wasn’t just fair but long overdue.
We voted in ‘75 to remain in a Common Market or the EEC,We voted to remain part of a trading bloc,We voted for economic cooperation.
We didn’t get the chance to vote for or against what the EU became. We did’nt ask for all the quotas and tarriffs and rules that were put on us.We didn’t vote for an EU army which may come about.Etc.
It was only right that we got another vote on membership. We should’ve had a vote in the 90’s.

What about the confusion of Brexit??, plenty of people didn't understand what they were voting for ?? :nono: . And others didn't vote because they didn't know enough about it and they didn't have much interest.

I don't think it should of happened and I think we should of REMAINED . But we all have our opinions :idc: .
