View Full Version : Social Experiment: Songs in the Morning *Poll Added*
It's very simple.
Each day choose a song to sing in full in your own time. By the end of the day, record any differences in mood. Repeat each day for a week or so. In a week or so, I'll create a poll.
Try to choose a song that centers around how you'd like to feel. So maybe stay away from Depressed Mode*. You can sing anywhere that is convenient for you, either in your bedroom, in your car, in your shower... that part doesn't matter. You can use music for this experiment or go instrumental, but make note when you do or don't use music to see if it varies.
Record the song here once a day and a video if you'd like. but it's not mandatory. And any positive (or negative) results?
* (I like Depeche Mode though so may use them...)

Ooh I'll try this, I don't think I'll record myself singing though, noone deserves to be put through that  Does it have to be the same song every day?

I sang 'Ready To Go' by Republica this morning
JgffRW1fKDk
I'm not sure if it's made any difference to my mood though. It did put me in a singing mood this morning if that counts. Had a bit of a dance too actually, which I don't normally do straight after waking up

I sang Good Morning Baltimore from Hairspray
wLaM1d383eg
It was in the car though as I was running late, didn't really change my mood but I felt a string in my step for a few hours after
Marsh.

A thread for Marc's karaoke tunes. :clap1:
Oh wow. I missed all these yesterday, my phone's browser was stuck in offline mode I think and I didn't even see Jamie's reply somehow though I was checking...
Today's song of choice

No, a different song each day is fine. And you don't have to record it
That song always makes me weepy though because of Selena's sad end... but a beautiful song nonetheless  I always feel better singing it for whatever reason
Eddie.

SELENA <3
I was just thinking about that song before reading this thread tbh.
She didn't deserve to leave us so early. :(
Today's song of the day is
Lady Gaga - Million Reasons
WYRJ-ryPEu0
Quite motivational I think... sang it during morning errands driving back and forth to shops

Yeah. I always wonder what it would've been like if she were still alive today.. I think she would've made a bigger difference in people's lives personally. She meant a lot to young girls.

First thing's first, J.Lo wouldn't be famous/only have very limited popularity (she was a Z-lister before the biopic got released, she appeared in some music videos and stage musicals and she also appeared as a "Fly Girl" on "In Living Colour").
J.Lo playing Selena in the biopic helped build a strong foundation for her to start her now lucrative music/acting career, and she kind of benefited from Selena's death in a way (I don't know how to think about this though...)
Though I assume if any other actress with similar ethnic background to Selena/J.Lo would also have benefited from starring as the main role in the biopic...
Though I think J.Lo did justice to Selena, and its one of the better biopics I have watched...(Lifetime Biopics,
I'm looking at you...)
^^ or maybe because Selena's family was in charge of the movie...unlike most Lifetime biopics...
Selena got really BIG after her death and the release of her first English album made the Selena brand even BIGGER outside of the Tejano music community...
Though even if Selena lived on, I think the outcome would be the same, during the year before her death, she was starting to get more recognition in mainstream culture (such as winning a Grammy, having a successful clothing brand) and if Selena got to see the album being released, I think she would have been MASSIVE.
Sorry for the long read, I just LOVE Selena...

Don't be sorry at all. I'm choking up a bit while reading and I actually like deep conversation and long reads. Just put this on in my Youtube...

I think she was my first introduction to Jlo as well but I do remember her more for her earlier music (Waiting for Tonic specifically) as I'm a huge dance music fan. The biopic was quite good and I own the DVD. The fact her family was so involved in the making of it (and the casting of her father as Edgar James Olmos was an excellent choice. I remember the movie premiere when it hits theatres and the media coverage of people absolutely losing it here. Though I do seem to remember Jlo as being a big fan as well, so I think that's it OK  Not quite a passing of the torch from someone like Selena, but she gave Selena a tribute she deserved... I think some of her fans really needed that tribute as a final goodbye/closure as her death was just so sudden and such a shock. I think that it really helped some to grieve.
I would add it to my singlist, but I don't think I could do her justice though with my current level of Spanish

I hadn't heard of Selena before but I just listened to Dreaming of You and it's beautiful. Just been reading about her, such a sad story </3

Still working on today's, I was up a wee bit late yay insomnia
I was stuck in traffic, near complete stand still... so today's singlist is pretty much all of the Fever In Fever Out soundtrack to Luscious Jackson.

Yesterday I sang 'Stomp' by Steps
aMblBLQQ-O0
And today I sang 'Don't Stop Movin' by S Club 7
vm262cXxRrU
I felt a bit silly singing these lol. I never normally sing anyway, but I'm finding it quite cathartic, if that's the right word, being out of my comfort zone doing this.
Yesterday's

It's very difficult to find the original of this on YT, so I'll just post a fun remix of it...

Sorry for lack of updates, I've been super busy as of late and still have some other things to update here.
I will add the final poll
I had some odd song choices towards the end. The foreign language choices were interesting, and notice some songs I have a terrible time keeping up with the tempo  (Not quite Mariah Carey...)

Oops I forgot to carry on with this the last few days sorry. I voted 'Not sure' though, there's a bit of 'it felt out of character' in there too because it is, but then I wouldn't say that I couldn't get into it because I did enjoy doing it and being outside my comfort zone. I think I'd probably have to do it for longer and more consistently though to see if it made any differences. (I have noticed my singing has improved though so watch out X Factor :hee: )
