Chief Forecaster's assessment
Snow showers will bring variable snow cover, but parts of northeast England and Scotland are expected to see the most frequent and organised snow showers from Wednesday morning to Thursday morning. During this time, 5-10 cm of snow is expected quite widely. Where showers become organised though, most likely across Scotland, areas of 15-25 cm are likely, locally as much as 40 cm. Strong winds will lead to drifting of snow and severe wind chill, while lightning could be an additional hazard, particularly near coasts. This warning has been updated to include a greater part of the Central Belt and increase the impact level based on the latest information.

About the cats Jaxie, can I pick your brains ? I have one that is now 6/7 mths old,I have kept her in until she was chipped and neutered, she is moaning at the door to go out,I let her out yesterday and today and she absolutely loves it, but I am scared to shut the door on her and have to chase her to get her in. What the colours mean
Yellow: Severe weather is possible over the next few days and could affect you. Yellow means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day to day activities. The Met Office is monitoring the developing weather situation and Yellow means keep an eye on the latest forecast and be aware that the weather may change or worsen, leading to disruption of your plans in the next few days.
Amber: There is an increased likelihood of bad weather affecting you, which could potentially disrupt your plans and possibly cause travel delays, road and rail closures, interruption to power and the potential risk to life and property. Amber means you need to be prepared to change your plans and protect you, your family and community from the impacts of the severe weather based on the forecast from the Met Office
Red: Extreme weather is expected. Red means you should take action now to keep yourself and others safe from the impact of the weather. Widespread damage, travel and power disruption and risk to life is likely. You must avoid dangerous areas and follow the advice of the emergency services and local authorities.

I just had to panic buy! Because of panic buyers...
It's not even that bad so far, then I heard that people were emptying the shops, and I was like "lol so dramatic". And then realised... it doesn't MATTER whether or not it's going to be bad conditions - the fact that some people are panic buying, means that the shelves are going to end up ****ing bare. So I had to go an panic buy too! I literally got the last two loaves of bread, last box of eggs and some of the last of the milk. They were having people call ahead asking for milk to be put aside for them .
I have also discovered that people panic buy beans... and crisps. Shelves totally stripped .

Oh no it was definite panic buying, there were literally people barging past each other and grabbing things off the shelves... and the staff were running around in a blind panic. The shop was absolutely PACKED with people

I finally ventured out today to do some shopping and it started snowing again. :bored: Wasn't fun  No it seems to have stopped.

I think it's better not to drive in this weather. It's bad enough to walk

It's insane, most CARS wouldn't have avoided that collision without either hitting the other car (the one recording) or going off the road. He did it in a double decker bus!
It was a female driver, I wonder if she screamed

The dashcam driver's reaction is great in itself. It goes from "Oh no that bus is going to hit that car!", through "THAT BUS IS GOING TO HIT *MY* CAR!!", to "OMG I survived and I'm going to be sick".

So scary when you lose control of your car in snow...I've been snowed in for two days...but had enough now..Yeah we've been snowed in since Wednesday but caved today and drove down to the nearest town :worry:. The main roads were pretty well cleared tbf, but we almost didn't get back up the driveway when we got home and trying to park at the supermarket was a nightmare. We ended up diagonal across two spaces (not that you could see where the spaces even were) but pretty much everyone was the same.

Also my snow shovel snapped clean in half down the middle so I guess that's us trapped indefinitely now :joker:

I went shopping today, the bread was almost gone :joker: Tomorrow i need to get some more electric and gas :fist:There was no bread or milk at any of our local supermarkets - though at Morrisons you could queue at the bakery where they were baking loaf after loaf fresh and handing them out [emoji23]. We still have plenty of bread stocked up from my heroic trek of foot on Thursday though.
But I had to but UHT milk for coffee... And SKIMMED as well. Literally all they had. Ugh. It's not too bad as a latte I guess. :(

Really? Wow, some panic buying went on round by you, ridiculous isn't it.
Right now here in West Yorkshire although it is super cold the snow has stopped coming down, just left with icy roads.
I can't wait for the snow to bugger off completely, I hate it, especially when I have to drive in it which really scares me. When it snowed last time I was crawling down a hill really slowly behind a bus, then the bus put his winker on to indicate he was letting someone off so I went to brake (I was quite a distance from the bus) but when I braked the car just kept sliding now, I ended up missing the bus by inches, I was crapping myself, it was awful. I was so relieved to get home. Nope, the snow can do one, it's not welcome to me. Sunshine, now yer talking yeah! Bring on the sunshine.

Yeah I agree Nessa and I don't unless it's absolutely necessary but I'm a carer and the lady I take care of lives too far away for me to walk unfortunately.

No more snow here and most of the lying snow has gone. Bitterly cold in the wind but watching the news we have got off lightly here thankfully.

Still snow on the ground but it'snot snowing anymore, I think there's rain due later so that will probably get rid of it. I've had enough of it now, I need to get out

Thaw has started, we won't have to eat each other
These are the two main roads out of my village :worry: tried the hill out twice today, second time following a tractor with a snow plough attached and he had to stop and turn back to get a bigger bucket. Tried the other main road as well but had to reverse back or I'd have got stuck

It always rains straight after heavy snow like this ,but the problem is we'll have ice and slushy slippery snow:fist: . But yeah the snow is going away which is good .
