What he is totally missing is that the majority of older voters voted remain in ‘75.These are people that have over the years watched the EU become a bureaucratic dictatorship imposing more and more rules on us over time until it became the monster that it is today.
Uncontrolled Immigration was but one part of the reason people voted to leave. Also equating a desire for a country to have control of its borders to racism is just an ideological strawman to try and make us all believe that remain was the only ‘progressive’ way to vote.
Most people are’nt racist,Most leave voters aren’t racist.Racists are the minority.
He’s shot himself in the foot with the voters.
That's not very liberal or democratic of him.
Which party is he with again?

I don't care for the guy but he has a point the immigration issue was a deciding factor for some what's wrong with saying that?

Older voters understood the EU, were around when it was foisted upon us and have been around to see the whole thing change and turn into what it is. Old enough to have homes, older relatives who use the NHS and old enough to see communities change.
Sounds like a last gasp effort to be relevant for his faded party

Nothing ... he is just highlighting that as a fact as far as I can see.
He is a plonker I agree he's the plonker who flogged royal mail for next to nothing remember? Anyone who thinks he has the countries best interests at heart is sadly mistaken.

Nothing except he seems to have taken it upon himself to speak for everyone over 60 who voted leave, and intimated they were voting for nostalgic reasons

And some spoke for the yoof suggesting they voted remain due to their ignorance... your point is?

i wonder just how many people voted remain because they thought we were geographically being removed from Europe.....

Which party leader did that?
the older people that voted to leave the EU did so because they have long enough memories to remember what life was like before we were being dictated to by europe. Vince knows full well that we had heavy immigration for decades before we joined europe, so his whole smear is without foundation

I don't there is anymore racism among the old than the young really. If anything people mellow in their attitudes - in general - as they get older.

I didn't say it was a party leader, it was a theory that was touted in the media and repeated as I remember on this forum quite a lot.

that's a completely different issue to the point of the thread, the media have also touted what Vince is claiming, it's pretty obvious what his agenda is
Kizzy

Yes the agenda for him is to stay in Europe at all costs, end of. I still say he has a point in his description of some leave voters.
What is the issue around the passports anyway, has anyone ever stated they want them a different colour?
To me turning them tory blue is entirely symbolic of their stranglehold on Britain, nothing whatsoever to do with nostalgia.

:clap1:
Actually we should be encouraging Vince to persuade some young voters to support the lib dems as that would eat in to Corbyn's vote share

No...
' for some people in supporting Brexit was a desire to curb non-EU immigration,'
Some is not all.
