Apparently he outlived some of the doctors who said when he was a child that he wouldn’t live past 50.

Given his health problems he lived a longer life than might have been expected and a very full one. Amazing mind, big loss to the world.

Gathering that he made several appearances on BBT, I wonder how they are going to handle it on that.

Sheldon :(

Oh God... I had no idea. What a real loss to the world. People with Motor Neuron Disease have an average life span of five years from diagnosis... he outlived that sentence by fifty years. What a truly remarkable, brilliant, extraordinary human being. Rest in peace.

Stephen Hawking died on Pi Day and Albert Einstein’s birthday to prove just what a mathematical genius he was

And even in death Stephen Hawking has proved just what a mathematical genius he was – parting the world on the most relevant day of the year. Pi Day 3.14. With exactly the same awesome sense of humour he was known for, Hawking died at his home in Cambridge early this morning on the 30th anniversary of Pi.

And to make it even more memorable, today is Albert Einstein’s birthday. Why is Pi Day today, how many digits is pi and more facts about the number Even in death, Hawking’s genius is still shining through. The 76-year-old’s children Lucy, Robert and Tim announced his death in a statement this morning, saying: ‘We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.’ Hawking’s incredible mind pushed the very limits of human understanding both in the vastness of space and in the bizarre sub-molecular world of quantum theory, which he said could predict what happens at the beginning and end of time.

I wonder if the Nobel Committee will honour him at all, apparently he never won one and they don't usually do posthumous awards but it would be nice if they recognised his life's work somehow considering his contribution.

I watched 'The Theory of Everything' last night and it was a film I'd highly recommend.

Yeah it was very good although

I was disappointed in him for leaving his wife for another woman :nono:

Here he is "singing" the Galaxy Song from Monty Python <3

He was a good sport to get the figures wrong, like Eric Idle did in the latest version ;)

That was sad but then she had climbed into that tent with her choir teacher. She had really reached the end of her tether. That said, wasn't she portrayed as being one amazing woman?
