My year weren't allowed a prom because we were too naughty.
So we had "a meal" and it was ****.

Nothing special. Just a "prom" party on the highest floor of the famous towers of TLV. There's no queen/king/prom date culture around it over here - yet it felt kind of stupid, and too Americanized.
Morgan.

Our room king and Queen were picked by the teachers based on best dressed but it was completely biased as the only teachers who came were the behaviour imprompvement staff and they picked two of their special behaviour class kids. Like the prom king, remember chosen by best dressed, wore literally a plain black suit that he found on eBay three days before when others had spent a fair amount on nice suits :skull:

Did you go with anyone?
Did you dress up?
Did you do anything there? ;)
- yeah I had a prom date
- yeah duh? lol
- not a whole lot :joker:
Prom weekend was the fun part not the actual prom, such a waste of money. I wouldn't suggest going to prom unless you really want it for the memories. But even then just skip it and do something with your friends/class that weekend instead.
Is it common in the UK for the whole grade to all go to / get hotel rooms at a certain location during the weekend of prom?

Teachers usually get hotels because they're always drunk but our prom finished at 11 so we all got picked up by parents.

Meh. Well I had two dates because one of my friends went off on holiday with his family at the last minute and his date tagged along with us :joker:...
However the prom itself... The meal was awful / dry, and even though I was 18 we weren't allowed to buy alcohol at the bar because half of the people there were still 17. Our after prom party was also a disaster... A few 20+ year old guys crashed it, drinks got spiked, fights got started, etc. and also for the life of me I could not get drunk. I was nearly a bottle of Jack Daniel's deep and I swear it just was not working, so I ended up going home :/.
I went to the after-prom the year before my own prom though and it was one of the best "teenage parties" ever :flutter:. Stumbling home through a field at 6am - that sort of party :joker:. Just wish my own prom had been as good...

Most people who were 17 in my year were either getting those who were 18 to buy their drink or even some teachers got it for them :skull: me being the shitebag I am, only had two kopparbergs at the actual prom so the event was nothing too special. The after party was great though, everyone still in their suits and dresses, still up drinking when the sun came out :flutter: luckily the house it was at was massive because pretty much the whole year slept there. I still don't know why I woke up at 8 and walked 20 minutes to get a bus home :/
I don't think they were a thing in Britain, when I was at school. It was just an American thing. We probably just had an end of term party (without the title, prom)
Although, I wouldn't know, because I didn't go to school in my last two year's and was in a job by the age of 15.
I wore a lovely navy suit and went with the girlies!

I wasn’t allowed to go because my attendance was under 90% and stuff because i kept skipping wood work most of the year.
But prom sounds boring so i wouldn’t have gone anyway.

We had to organise ours ourselves without school involvement (they're called Debs though not proms) I uninvited the first guy I asked because his girlfriend was going with a guy in my class (he was single when I asked him [emoji12] ) and I invited a guy I was friends with instead, it was a good night

At our school you aren't allowed 'dates' and the Prom Queen and King were chosen by the teachers. I wore a blue dress with crystals all down the front.
Could probably post a pic if anyone is interested to see it

Honestly was one of my favourite nights ever. The actual prom wasn’t great, we just had a meal with a glass of wine and danced a bit. Some of the teachers like the headmaster and my Head of Years gave a few speeches along with the head boy and girl. They did a PowerPoint presentation, gave out some awards voted for by pupils (I won Biggest Gossip teehee!) and then everyone just had a dance, it was good but nothing special.
The after party was AMAZING though and I just wish I could relive it again :(
I wore a prom suit yeah but because me, a close friend, and my best friend were closer to each other than we were to anyone else, we all got stuck on one table with none of our other friends because they were all closer to each other than they were to us :( that said like 2 people got on their table and they only had like 2 or 3 friends out of 10 on said table so I was FUMING! I was close with all of those girlies
I honestly dont think my body's suited for any temperature above 10 degrees celcius tho so when I was doing my speech and getting pictures I was glowing with dripping wet hair :bawling: but it was such a cute night filled with love which was nice!!!

Yeah my prom finished at like 11-12 as well if I remember correctly but then most of my grade took a trip down to the Jersey Shore (not where the TV show was filmed, most of us went to Wildwood, NJ) for the whole weekend, some either that night or the morning after.
I guess kind of like an extended after-party. THAT was the fun part about prom weekend for me / basically everyone.

There wasn't ANY alcohol at all at mine but then again there's different age limits for drinking in the UK (18 vs. 21 in the US). Some people brought their own stuff and drank it in the bathrooms etc. :skull: I just didn't drink though.

did not exist apart from American films. I left in 5th year to go to Uni anyroad. We had school discos where we would get wasted and have a fight and try to finger a girl
:flutter: the old days, certainly were the best days

I didn't have a prom, I don't use a sidewalk, strollers are really pushchairs, it's "may I have" not "can I get", I order things to take away, not to go, cookies and candy are just biscuits and sweets... I bloody hate Americanisms. I hate them so much I sometimes tick off my American fella for using them. And he's allowed!

Used to be but it's pretty popular here now too, I don't know any local schools who don't have a prom
