:cheer2:

We have to renew all ours this year and I was dreading it, filling in the forms and getting them signed, getting photos done :skull:

you can now apply online if you have an existing passport as long as the passport number starts with a certain letter (so I guess biometric)

upload a photo from your smartphone following a few simple rules no plants in the background :nono:

put in your email address, and existing passport details

Pay your money

and click send :cheer2: (10 minutes tops)

Oh that's great news, I'll need a new one next year, it's always a massive pain

Since Ancestry UK told me I am 5% Irish, I might do that too. I fancy a green passport.

Gah, the took payment about a week ago so I assumed everything was on track, got an email yesterday to say the photo had too many shadows :skull: I wouldn't mind but showed practically every pore :skull: so off to the chemist today to get one done ....:fist:

Is the British method still paper based? I haven't had a passport since childhood so I'm not sure of the process. It's about time we go digital if we haven't already, though.

It's about time we go digital if we haven't already, though. You can renew online and all you have to send physically is an up to date photograph and your old passport (picture doesn't need verified etc. So long as it's recognisably the same person in the old passport).

If you don't have your previous passport you pretty much still have to do the full paper form with countersigned photographs etc... You can fill in an online thing and then print it all out though rather than doing it "by hand".
