Just reading on another forum an argument about cafe/fast food restaurants and saving tables etiquette. Seems a pretty divisive subject. Basically if you go into a busy cafe/fast food joint with someone else would one of you get a table and hold it while the other orders or would you both queue and try to get one once you got your food? I always thought the best option was find your table while the other person orders but alot of people liken this to queue skipping  Thoughts?

Save the table! You were there first anyway and its less stressful knowing you have a table that no one can take

Well you might not have been there first is the argument, say you go in and there's 10 people ahead of you in the queue, your friend lines up behind those 10 people, 1 table becomes free so you're holding that while the 10 people infront of your friend have no table :hehe:

Save the table, it doesn't require more than one person to order.

I would normally find a table first but I guess if you realise that there are other people already waiting for a table to free up then it would be courteous to let them have it first. I don't see why you need to have ordered your stuff and be there holding it before you try and find a table though, what if none comes free for ages and you're just left standing around like a wally unable to drink or eat what you've just bought

Yeah i was surprised so many people thought it was bad manners tbh, it never even occurred to me. My logic is, I'm not buying food here unless I can actually sit down

If I go in a place alone to eat then I will - obviously - have to queue and wait, but if I'm with others one or more of us will ALWAYS find a table while the others queue to order.

True but you were at the table first because you were more smart enough :hehe:
That table is free until someone sits there. I always save the table,in cafes and hotels and go up separately or in hotels we get filled up drinks first and place them on the table telling people that table is not free.

Find a table first. Most places ask for your table number at the bar anyway.

save a table, why would two people queue for food and then not have anywhere to sit..

It's not really queue skipping because you aren't entitled to a specific table when you order your food in a fast-food restaurant. It's up to you to find somewhere to sit once you have it. Having a friend/relative reserve a space wouldn't be any different to finding a bench to sit on in a park whilst mum goes and buys an ice cream.
