Shock news. Another GREAT character is gone. He was not only a legendary darts player but was also a very likeable man with a 'Cheeky Chappy' personality who helped make darts more 'mainstream'. He will be missed. RIP 'Crafty Cockney'.

I mean I feel sorry for his family and everything, but this is a man who called child abuse victims wimps.

As I said though, I feel awful for his family who didn’t get to say goodbye really :(

I heard something about that Mitchell ,but didn't catch it all, would be interested to see the interview of that, they played a little on TV this morning ,but not enough to get the whole story.

Obviously that was a stupid thing to say and I think I am right in saying he lost his job over it, it may have ultimately cost him his life as stress is a killer, he did apologise and probably like a lot of people who put foot in mouth regretted it

A lot of what I've read suggests that he could be a bit of a nob at times but then other people have said a lot of that was just a front and privately he was one of the nicest guys you could meet

Those statements were beyond stupid though

He wasn't my cup of tea although I do think a lot of it was put on. No one can deny that he was pretty much responsible for darts becoming a very successful spectator sport. During it's hay day it was wildly popular.

With regard to the sex abuse thing, I do think he was misunderstood/misquoted. What he was trying to say was that when someone gets older and aware that they did suffer abuse, they should be able to report it at that point and not keep it quiet, and in that context I think he had a point.

Reckon you're being a bit generous there, I think he was just pissed and starting spouting off on twitter lol

He married the daughter of the landlady at the pub hubby drinks at occasionally, he would go in the pub and chat like a local.
Excellent dart player in his day.

Watched Sports Life Stories, he was big headed, but in a wind up way imagine a World Champion saying about the runner up they will always be No. 2 today, the meltdowns that would bring :joker:
