Abusers in what way? family members using the badges, this has been going on for years unfortunately

People just straight up park in the spaces with no badge. There's hardly ever anyone enforcing it in supermarket car parks, etc.

Parent and Child spaces are even worse, people (with no kids) just use those all the time without a second thought.

It happens a lot at work, it's due to the extra space apparently, these 4x4s are too wide for a regular space so cars in the rest of the cars in the car park were being damaged being too close together.

If people could get hold of a badge they used them to park in the wider bays :/
I can see why tbh, if vehicles are getting wider bays will have to be reconfigured to accommodate or this will keep happening.

I agree with ALL the above, and another problem is people who park cars in places allocated for vans.

I've often had to park somewhere distant because someone has done that which means pushing heavily loaded trolleys a long way to load up.

I do think the size of parking bays are an issue, a lot of them a not cut out for the type of cars that are driven today but even so that is still no excuse, park across two bays if you cant fit into one and get out

Of course they shouldn't do it, I was just explaining the reasons I have been given for them doing it. That would be one solution park across two bays but it's not ideal as there would be complaints made for this too.

if car parks are not responding to a change in vehicle size then complaints coming from parking over two bays might illicit a response, parking in a disabled bay is not addressing the issue

I know it isn't, neither is ideal and both have elicited an angry response.
I have given a possible solution that could solve the problem, I might propose it at work actually where it's a big issue atm.

Well lets hope the disabled people at your work arent to inconvienienced by the company motors being parked in thier places...sounds like a rather vile place to work for.
