I think a lot of mine are people who just post on season and post things like 'shes a fat cow' etc

I'm genuinely considering utilising the ignore function for BB19 for this reason but arguing over that kinda stuff boosts my post count so maybe not?

I am not prepared to sit and wade through posts like 'shes a fat cow' or 'he is a ugly prick' that some post over and over during on season. Not interested in those types of 'opinions' thanks.

I was just asking if you personally found it a problem or not. Just not certain on your views on the whole 'ignore' thing :)

I don't 'suffer' them....I bypass their comments or respond to them if I want to. I don't see the problem. I just don't feel the need to put anyone on ignore. It's a personal choice and I'm merely explaining why I have never done it and never will. I like to see a whole debate rather than pick and choose who I do want or don't want to see. It's just my choice...

As I have just said to Amy Jade...I like to see the whole debate so I never or will ever put someone on ignore. I simply scroll to the next comment if I find a comment inappropriate or if it's debatable then I comment.

I didn’t know you could ignore people.
For me, it helps for large discussion threads and the forum in general to be more readable. I feel like the context of the actual conversation actually makes more sense to me when sh%tposting is removed. Like there are people who no matter show up to relive the same arguments. Those people are not actually reading anything, they're just finding ways to get in and shift the conversation towards them because the thread is going a direction they don't like...
I also have a bad tendency to get distracted by side conversations and going off-topic as well, so it's also a reminder for myself to stay on-topic... and not to be distracted by those naughty side-conversations :skull:
And the third reason, but I think the most important... some I put on ignore because I've figured out they either overly sensitive or have some other pet peeve that makes my responding to them problematic. It is better to have them off than for me to accidentally piss them off. Which has happened to me in the past, so I like to think I am doing both people a favor.
I feel like it's a common courtesy to put someone on ignore who you know will never get on with (and who you feel cross with), than to argue with them and chase them around the board and continue the same arguments... there's literally no reason to keep reading their posts if it's just going to upset both people.
Just my thoughts.

Would've been only one if RileyH left for good
...I had one person properly on ignore one time during BB season...it was when Alex Rose Lee was a housemate and her mum joined the forum...I think I got a little emotionally invested that year because I know how upset Alex’s mum obviously was with some of the harsher comments...and just general things about Alex’s past etc...anyway, I put one particular ‘Alex hater’ on ignore...other than that, not so much with ignoring though...it’s funny because maybe some members I could have put on ignore back in the day...are some I have had great friendships with over time...funny old world, funny old forum...

It takes a lot for me to put somebody on ignore, but if I'm finding the vast majority of somebody's posts irritating to the point where I'd rather not see anymore of them, then the function is great. I wouldn't use it as a quick fix simply because I don't agree/get along with somebody.

0 it doesn't work, I will be saying something and the person I have on ignore would respond and I won't see it then there'll be the 'Ha! see you have no answer for that'! :/
I prefer to see the whole debate.

I always think everyone needs a little bit more zen in their life, but baby steps ...
Maru...you are too nice and so thoughtful. If I'm honest...sometimes I'm in the mood for a bit of mud slinging
I think my problem is I empathize too easily with other people, especially online as there's no real boundaries there aside from ignore list... I used to be a really heavy poster, and I developed a lot of close relationships with certain people that way, but then I also realized too that it became too easy for me to "relate" to those folk and also feel for them when they were bullied online (as an example)... and when someone is ****posting, especially if it's towards someone I really respect and who I feel is being treated poorly even if they did enable some of it. It was hard for me not to feel very negative about that, even if I understand both sides, which is sometimes worse, because then I feel both people's stress... so now I just ignore out of compassion for myself.
I still lurk, so it's not like I don't read those conversations when I'm logged out. But when they're squished, I know not to focus on them too much and then it just becomes habit and I probably don't even need ignore for 80% of those on it now (and half are long gone).. but I like the comedic effect of strolling into a thread and there are literally tiny crushed DIVs boxes everywhere, completely obliterating the thread.. I look forward to pulling back those layers sometimes and seeing a giant dumpster fire. It's like catching on the latest Donald Trump news/his twitter feed/media outrage. If I can't sleep, I just google his name right before bed or I read the latest SD news/dumpster fire... does the trick for my insomnia.

I can agree and disagree with this , however on TIBBS i have nobody on ignore as like you say i want to see stuff and if there's anything i don't want to see then i don't take part in it and it's that simple .
But on youtube recently i got into an argument with an idiot who was really trying to press my buttons , so i had the last word and then blocked them and muted them :joker: .

I have 2, I don't as a rule agree with ignoring people as I'm nosey, but certain ones are just so obnoxious I would rather not interact with them , its like in real life if you don't like someone ,you don't talk to them, then there are no arguments. Most of the time I can just ignore by passing posts, but for the 2nd time in the 9 years Ive been here I have used the ignore button, so not done bad really.

36. Sadly you can still see them when someone else quotes them. In a perfect world when you have someone on ignore they shouldn't be able to see what you post. Instead quite a few of them make it their mission to answer, sarcastically and/or rudely usually, every post you make. It's a form of baiting that's perfectly acceptable on here.
