Finally watched the premiere and it as about what you would expect from a TARCan premiere. Fun and enjoyable but very processional and not very much about the teams. The last five minutes were very, very exciting though! Leanne/Mar and Martina/Phil are the early stand outs for me, and I don't particularly like Nancy/Mellisa but I am intrigued by the fact that Nancy couldn't find anyone to run the race with that she had to resort to bringing along a random acquaintance with a terribly misspelled name.

Anyway, here's to hoping someone next week has a blackjack meltdown that can slightly hold a candle to Sukhi's Fan-Tan meltdown!

Really enjoyed the premiere, Martina is a STAR I hope she can last the duration <3

That ending was brilliant as well, I'm glad we've got a dull M/M team out the way early too :clap1:

Not sure about the cast at this point, hopefully they have more mental challenges on this. Sick of hearing people say they represent some group when they are actually just representing themselves on this race. Hopefully all the stuff about them being amazing heroes has been done with after these introductions.

The ending was close which was good, and there were a couple of tasks that led to place changes. It was a slight worry at the start when a team had to catch a second ferry but that didn't turn out to ruin the leg.

Second leg was better, tasks were more of a mental challenge. But three express passes? I'd hoped that we'd moved on from giving out loads of these by now, three teams now have an easy get out if they struggle in a task.

I thought this second episode was very enjoyable! Martina was still the star for me, with her charitable giving away of her backpack and her dealing blackjack in a made up accent for reasons I still don't entirely understand  But a lot of the other teams that I wasn't so hot on in the premiere were fun too! I enjoyed Courtney and Adam the whole way through and Taylor and Courtney were fun during the can-can, and even for OTTP frontrunners I found Todd and Anna to have a lot of value??? It was a fun episode, even though I am alarmed by how many people struggled to add up single digit numbers during blackjack.

The knots part was easily the best I thought. A detour would have been nice, but I was happy the express passes were used up (plus it meant we didn't have to see even more vomiting). The racing roadblock could have been good, but it looked like they could go relatively slow and still make the time limit.

Honestly though that leg design was kind of terrible. Bunching the teams up at the airport, separating them based on who got a taxi first, bunching them again at the ferry, having the first Roadblock be so easy that it really just came down to how quickly you arrived there... like the only thing that mattered was the second Roadblock :skull:

Also, "eat two blueberry pies" surely has to be one of the least inspired things this franchise has ever done. Thank god for Martina's violent dry-heaving

That was a fun episode and I was *shocked* by the boot and kinda sad about it? Like Todd and Anna were definitely cast as a sob story but for whatever reason I found them a lot more humanized and real than I expected, and I also thought they'd be a lock for like top 5 or 6 at worst.

I'm sick of U-Turns before the Detour though  this one wasn't that bad since there were a few Route Markers beforehand but still

09-08-2018, 07:05 AM
Aaaaand another episode. This season, and this franchise, is just so stale because we don't even really get to know the teams. Every confessional is just so basic. "We are currently in last place," "I am going to rock this Roadblock," "we don't know where we're going and this could cost us the race," these are all nothing statements coming from nothing teams. TARCan's always had this problem but between last year and this year it's gotten out of hand.

And also these Route Markers ****ing blow. Pack up a **** ton of bread :skull: Pack up a bunch of candy and taffy :skull: Another genre of dancing :skull: My god, next week in particular looks like an abomination between a ballet dancing challenge, making balloon animals (:skull::skull::skull:), and a darts Face Off. This is like the G-rated Amazing Race.

starry
09-08-2018, 07:25 AM
It does look cheap at times, the tasks and locations not that special this episode. Two teams always stood out as more different in this season, the shouting men and the excitable woman. Canadian BB and this seem to have some bland people on it, and the heroes concept was never the best. I liked Anna but I couldn't relate to Todd as well, though he seemed nice, with all the reconstructive surgery on his face it was hard to gauge his expressions sometimes.

Headie

They're still doing this Face Off ****? Jesus Christ.

DouglasS
15-08-2018, 06:05 PM
The Fave off once again showing how it doesn’t actually matter if you can race well if you’re not good at that one particular skill you’re screwed, 3rd place to last is quite harsh.

Macie Lightfoot
16-08-2018, 05:37 AM
k so the latest episode of TrashCan6 was not nearly as bad as the preview made it seem but that doesn't mean it was good? I thought the museum Route Marker was a good challenge that helped shuffle things up, but then the Face Off just kinda kills the momentum. I kinda understand why they fall into the trap of Face Offs because they're high stakes and you ahve teams directly competing against each other buuuuuut they're an overall net negative since they kinda lock in the order of the teams for the rest of the leg.

THAT BEING SAID, alol next week randomly looks like an OTTM mess?!?!?! which means the actual episode is going to be a letdown but let's enjoy it while we can!

Macie Lightfoot
16-08-2018, 06:02 AM
I know I've already bitched about how the confessionals are not being utilized well at all and so many of the tasks suck, but I really feel like there's so much **** we're not being shown because these people are ~heroes~ or summat. Like why did Nancy/Mellisa and Courtney/Adam work together in the museum? I'd bet that it had to do with Nancy wanting to screw over the leeches Dylan/Kwame but god forbid any of the teams have conflict with each other!!!!! Why was Courtney sobbing at the pit stop? Why aren't we being shown any of these strategic moves or meltdowns?????

I'll end on a positive note. Episode highlight: the episode randomly cutting away from a boring Dylan confessional to show Martina saying DRAMA!!!!!!!! with absurd jazz hands for no discernible reason

starry
16-08-2018, 10:40 AM
The episode was really all about the magic/balloon task and the mishaps of the contestants with the funny scenes it created. It just happened naturally and was bit lucky for the editors really. The delivery task was just a commercial. A good point I saw made elsewhere was why are the faceoffs always sporting tasks? I had a feeling it would be a non-elimination, combining different planes with a faceoff later in the leg and some tasks that didn't look that hard. The dancing task wasn't one of the harder ones, the memorisation task would have been better without teams working together.

Headie
16-08-2018, 03:16 PM

Macie Lightfoot
30-08-2018, 07:37 AM
Decentish leg that I don't think was actually that special but was still just soooo refreshing from the previous batch of legs we've dealt with. The telenovela task is fine and I guess it was nice for Dylan and Kwame to finally get some focus, especially good focus? The ending was #intense but the result was sad </3

And next leg looks tragic lmao a bunch of physical tasks and another F4 Face Off which like..... literally every team that has lost the F4 Face Off has been eliminated that leg so what the hell's the point. Obviously there have been a bunch of other factors and I really don't think any of those teams would've actually survived the leg even on their own merits, but it's still a #curse and a stupid one.

Valmafra

Yup, once again the Face Off ruins any credibility this show has. The only likeable/fun team screwed over by some pointless Face Off **** that is anti-climatic and not exciting to watch at all. They're almost always sports-related too, smh.

Anyway thank you Martina & Phil for giving us some amazing moments  I couldn't care less who wins now, I'll probably wiki-watch the finale.
