Throughout 2018 I am going to be forming Top 10's of my favourite songs of that month. The Number 1 song of each month will advance to The Grand Finale towards the end of December whereby my Top 12 songs of the Year will be ranked from worst to best. To add some incentive for TiBB, the songs that I place #2 and #3 each month will go into a poll and TiBB will choose one 'Wildcard Song' to join my rankings.
The songs I include don't have to have been released that month, but I'm choosing them on the basis that I've heard them at least once this month and that they're still in the Top 40/100 of the Official Charts.
January's Top 3

#10 - Freaky Friday
Lil Dicky ft. Chris Brown
Released 29.03.18
NEW ENTRY

This is one of those songs that I just automatically dislike because of the artists or the hype that it accumulates - however whilst doing the Spring Clean and having MTV on, they played this a generous 4 times in the two hours it was on and I kinda liked it by the end. Haven't heard it much since Mid-April but still deserves a spot.

#9 - Lullaby
Sigala ft. Paloma Faith
Released 8.3.18

This is one I definitley expected to have cut when ranking Aprils Hits but after a steady increase in radio plays and a catchy song I decided to keep it in and even move it up a spot. Aren't I nice?

Released 08.02.18

It's very rare for a quite generic pop song to impress me but Maren's vocals impressed me and it's very easy to sing along to. Not something I'd download and listen to but it's a bop for the late afternoon radio so can get a spot on my list.

Ugh I'm in love with Anne Marie this month she's just so talented, and I can't believe this is the first I have heard of this song. I love it and it would be higher if I'd heard it more, I've just not seen it around enough (I'm sheltered okay) to have it higher. Sorry LukeB.
"I hate this artist, but I heard this song on MTV once and haven't listened to it since" being your reasoning for putting a song in your top 10 suggests to me that you don't listen to a great deal of music

Oh I've heard it since but not enough to want it higher. I like the song. Same as my hatred of Craig David but love of I Know You.

I feel bad for putting it #5 because I love Brendon, I love the song, and it gets radio play - but my Top 4 are all new songs that I've listened to tons and love. Sorry Brendon and RileyH.

Wasn't expecting much because I generally don't like much CH content but the songs actually a bit of a bop and Dua makes it better. Not her best work, but something I'll definitley have on repeat for the next few weeks.

George Ezra genuinely always gets me in a good mood and although I don't listen to him regularly and don't collect his albums, I love when I hear his music as it's just so authentic and relaxing. Welcome to the Top 3.

Anne Marie deserves the privellage of appearing twice this month because she's just so talented. Haven't stopped listening to this song and may have only put it at #2 because of the '2' in the title :p
Nah joking I just prefer #1 more obviously.

one kiss is genuinely one of the worst things I have ever heard sorry NOT sorry x
For You is a BOP though i must say x
It's very rare for a quite generic pop song to impress me
Hun, your list is almost identical to this week's chart top 10 (plus PATD, Shawn Mendes and two songs that have only just left the top 10 after several months, and minus Drake and Ariana, which are probably the best two songs in there?), of course it isn't very rare for generic pop to impress you
Chart pop will always have a place in my heart and I'm not saying you should immediately develop a taste for underground indie symphonic trip-hopera instead - to paraphrase cupcakKe, like what the **** you like, **** the world - but the way you stick so rigidly to the top 10 concerns me a little and in other words you should stream Golden on Spotify immediately or else

I never really look at the Official Charts so I wouldn't know what was Top 10 or not  I only use it to check dates they were released for this.
I suppose by generic pop I meant that's I felt like I'd heard the song a hundred times before, whereas a lot of others in my list are ones where I've felt it's brought something new in one way or another.
