Same here Smudgie, not many ever that deserve a vote , that's why people stay at home , not cos they can't be arsed !
Your 6:30am update: it has been a bad night for Labour who have come far short of expectations, failing to win Wandsworth, Westminster or Kensington despite much fanfare from Owen Jones et al about*“unseating the Tories”*there.
Labour have lost control in Derby and Nuneaton, failed to take Thurrock, another key target seat, and lost seats in Carlisle and Walsall.*This is not the performance of a party about to win a general election.
They gained control in just one council, Plymouth, notably where Momentum’s hordes didn’t campaign.
The LibDems have regained control of the Remain stronghold in Richmond.
The Tories have made gains across England, winning Basildon, another Labour target seat, and increasing their majority in Hillingdon.
This is a much better result than expected for the Tories, and much worse than expected for Labour.*May will be feeling a lot better than Corbyn this morning…
https://order-order.com/2018/05/04/bad-night-for-labour-tories-hold-london-seats-and-make-gains-across-england/
Tories have also just gained Barnet, one of the main targets for Labour in these election. Large Jewish population there

These results aren't anything to get excited about for any party imo...
Happy that the Lib Dems have won Richmond (that swing though!) as well as holding onto their other councils
But this by far isn't a result to get excited about but any gain is a good thing...

You forgot to mention that UKIP have nearly been wiped out
But yes, a pretty good night for the tories all things considered. Labour lost 4 thousand seats while they were in government and haven't come close to winning that number back

How have we not yet learned that the local elections indicate absolutely nothing about the direction of UK politics though? Like... They never are. Ever. And yet every time, they're treated like they're an accurate public poll .
The demographics that are inclined to vote in local elections vs general elections are wildly different.

if labour were on the up, you would expect them to start taking back the 4k seats they previously lost. That is the norm mid term, so is a good indication of where the parties currently sit.

It appears many young folks did not bother to vote
and before yesterday
many got sick of Labour going on and on
about the Torys and Nothing Else?
At this time now , The next
General Election is 5th of May 2022

Yes those Political Broadcasts
all about the Torys
be far better for Labour to lay out their own future plans.

most losses by hard brexit parties
