Sam Allardyce has left as Everton manager after six months at the club.

The 63-year-old signed a contract until June 2019 when he took over in November following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

Everton, who were 13th in the Premier League when Allardyce arrived, finished the season in eighth.

Allardyce has been heavily criticised by fans for his management and Everton's style of play since he took over and the club said the decision was part of their "longer-term plan".

A real shame. A small-time, delusional ale-house football loving manager was finally on the team with the most delusional fans in English football. A match made in heaven was taken away from us too soon.

I look forward to the fans talking themselves in to a challenge for top 4 next season when the Watford manager holds his scarf about his head in the next few weeks.

He is getting a pay off of £6m .... not bad for 6 months work :hee:

Jamie Carragher is apparently favourite to take over as he lives within spitting distance of the ground

It's a harsh sacking imo.

Football is not supposed to be about entertainment, it's about the results and under Allardyce the results had improved considerably.

I agree. They only finished 5 points behind Burnley which is a really good step in the right direction for them.

Should never have sacked Martinez tbhThey should, he took us backwards. Destroyed the foundations that Moyes built.

its fair enough that the club has ambitions, but if they want to attract a top level manager they will need to do a Chelsea or Man City by bringing in loads of quality players. It's the only way the big boys will consider managing them

They think they are a top6 team when realistically they are not even top 10

they could be top 6, if only they would buy really great players

Considering how far behind Burnley they was before he took over I think that's a strong finish.
