Yeah I can't hear a "y" sound. But the girl i am working with can only hear y and no l. I think this is why when I am singing in the office I get things thrown at me, they all can't hear properly!!

He said you might hear Laurel in high Feq.
Ashley.

It's a low quality recording of somebody pronouncing the name Laurel, but those with better hearing (can hear higher frequencies) hear Yanny. So at least those hearing Yanny can admit to having better hearing, whereas they can't admit to being right. :hee:

We did it in a Science lesson once when I was at school. Our teacher would slowly raise the frequency of a recording and we'd all put our hands down when we could no longer hear it, and everyone put their hands down at different times.
what it basically means is that those with better hearing will hear yanny, those with not so good hearing will hear laurel

nope, as you get older and your hearing deteriorates you hear less high frequencies. They have whistles for controlling kids that really annoys them that adults can't hear
Glenn.

Bye I heard yanny on the radio earlier but now hear Laurel

yanni has the higher frequencies in it, laurel is what hear when it doesnt have high frequency in it.
Ashley.

Yes that's why I thought those with better hearing would hear Laurel not Yanny
No because if you play this clipping in a high frequency, it'd sound like Yanny. Like that video that Underscore posted, in low frequency you can hear Laurel pretty clearly (well, more clearly if you're right. :smug:)
Niamh.
16-05-2018, 07:15 PM
Oh my god, I just went to play the video for my kids and suddenly I'll I can hear is laurel, that's ****ed up [emoji43]

I can’t even hear yanny anymore
Oh my god, I just went to play the video for my kids and suddenly I'll I can hear is laurel, that's ****ed up [emoji43]
probably because you are more tired, or more relaxed and not concentrating so much or you are playing it on a crap speaker with no treble
Niamh.

Wtf I was just listening to it and heard Laurel for the first time but then after five seconds it changed back to Yanny :skull:
Jack_
17-05-2018, 03:43 PM
It's both, if you concentrate hard enough you should be able to get your brain to focus on the other one mid-listening
Just focus on the deeper/higher frequency
Niamh.
