View Full Version : Rice - fork or spoon?

Never understood how people can eat rice with anything other than a spoon (chopsticks aside) but apparently there’s some sort of snobbery about it. Which one do you use to eat your rice?

People from traditional rice-eating countries don’t use forks. Forks are just a European adaptation. Not how the actual owners do it

Epic.

I'd never eat rice plain cause that's disgusting I'd eat with something. So following from montblanc saying about the meat I'd have rice with a fork because it's easier to scoop up the other stuff

Eating rice plain is like having bread without anything on it :skull:

Savoury or Plain rice I use a fork every time, Rice pudding - a spoon.

I don't eat rice on its own.

So I tend to use a fork when it's with an actual meal such as a chicken curry.

The rice grains all clump together with the curry's/sauces anyway. If you're eating it dry, worrra yer doin'?

Definitely a fork and I thought about why just now and realized it's because I have rice as a side plate (or on the same plate next to whatever else I'm eating) and that other meat or chicken etc. usually needs a fork. So I'm not gonna keep switching utensils when I'm eating the meat and the rice. :joker: Then I got used to always eating rice with a fork even if I don't need to use a fork for whatever else I'm eating with it.
