The new series of Big Brother was in chaos last night after repeated bust-ups between the show's makers and scandal-hit Channel 4.

The new series of Big Brother was in chaos last night after repeated bust-ups between the show's makers and scandal-hit Channel 4.

The bitter dispute emerged as C4 bosses were yesterday ordered to make three grovelling on-screen apologies over the Celebrity Big Brother race row.

TV watchdog Ofcom slammed the broadcaster for "serious errors of judgment" and said it had covered up more disgusting racist attacks on Shilpa Shetty by Jade Goody and her brainless cohorts.

The damning ruling has thrown preparations for the start of next week's Big Brother 8 into disarray.

Desperate to keep the show - hosted by Davina McCall - scandal free, C4 bosses have rejected three contestants put forward by makers Endemol. They have also thrown out plans to encourage class warfare in the house by recruiting extreme individuals from different social groups.

One source said last night: "Channel 4 are trying to wrestle back control of the show and make sure there are no more scandals, but Endemol insists the programme will flop if there aren't any clashes or tension."

One contestant - described as the best housemate selected this year - was rejected because he had been arrested after a fight.

The source added: "He was a brilliant, cocky bloke - easily the best man we had. We booked him straight away but then had to drop him because he got into a fight.

"He may have to go to court and we couldn't risk him getting into a row in the house and then it emerging that we'd allowed him in as a contestant knowing that he'd been arrested in a bar brawl.

"Last year we'd have put him in. This year we don't dare. Other great would-be housemates have also been thrown out because of the extra psychology tests. Endemol wanted them in, but Channel 4 said no. Things are getting very heated."

BB8 begins next Wednesday, when Channel 4 will make the first of its apologies over January's Celebrity Big Brother. The race row sparked an international outcry and attracted a record 45,000 complaints from viewers.

That boy ejected sounds like that Kevin boy from Bebo who was rumoured.

He was very cocky, and someone said in his comment he got arrested I think. Unless I misread it lol

I personally hope to god its not true. If anything I hope the opposite happens. I doubt channel 4 would do this.

They wont make a big deal out of it, it will be most likely a quick "And we would like too apologise too all viewers during cbb that we didnt step in earlier than we did" Then i can imagine davina making some joke about it too lift the mood haha.

Same here. Something like her saying ''Now that weve got that business cleared up''.

I read this before somewhere else. I think this could be true regarding the people getting axed and the apology as Big Brother doesnt want to make more trouble for the show otherwise it could get axed for good this time after all the racism trouble in Celebrity Big Brother.

I hope the racism stuff doesnt stop the show having great housemates to watch otherwise it could be another boring Big Brother 4 all over again and that wouldnt be great to watch really.

Yeah, I think it's good that Channel 4 want to apologise and avoid any possible backlash with BB8. I hope they bring in some interesting characters anyway and after the psychological tests, potentially good housemates aren't rejected.

that racism thing was blown way out of proportion , it wasnt even obvious racism.
on paul-o-grady , davina mccall said that the police had went threw all the tapes and found no racism , bullying - yes , bitchyness - yes but defos not racism.
i think that this is an awful thing to happen and i hope that it does not effect future shows , it wasnt BB s fault now was it ?

YES, I've read this article somewhere else on this forum.

But I shall just add, that BB8 will survive, even after rejecting these three new housemates.

They may have had volatile situations occured in their lives or a more sinister view of their personalities, but it shouldn't make much difference.

Sometimes, it's the quieter ones that can surprise us all.

It might not be Arguments this time that rule BB it could be something else?

Theres reasons why they are rejecting them, they won't want to come under flak again so they are rejecting hms.

This isn't great. The last thing we want is a BB on the defensive. It sounds as if they had a class war up their sleeves for this year, and already back tracking.
If this has to be the 'safe' year then they would probably be well advised to at least make it the most humorous so far.
