The new what colour is the dress debacle. Some people hear laurel some people hear yanny. I definitely hear laurel and I saw the dress as blue and black I asked my wife what the word was and she heard yanny but saw the dress as white and gold. So just wondering what word you hear and what colour you saw the dress

First time I listened I heard Yanny, then I listened on my phone later and heard Laurel, then I listened on my computer the next day and heard Yanny again :skull:

The dress i saw white and gold first but that one definitely depended on the picture and what angle you looked at it from

There's a tool somewhere that you can use to adjust the pitch until you hear the other one. I couldn't hear "Yanny" at all, then used the tool, and now in the original I can alternate between hearing both and it freaks me out so I had to stop :bawling:

Exactly the same as me Niamh...you can switch between the two easily by just thinking what you want to hear

Yeah, I can do that with "Laurel/Yanny" now but I had to see the tool that allows you to clearly hear both first. It's like... once you know what you're listening for, you can make yourself hear it at will, and flip back and forward between the two. It's a really odd feeling though, inside my brain... :worry:

You can do that with the laurel/yanny one, you've just got to alternate between focusing on the higher and lower pitches

I hear this as Green Needle clear as day, not even close to brainstorm even when I tried to hear it as much as I could

What's the Lauren/Yanny one? I haven't heard about it. But omg the dress thing from a long time ago got so exhausting :joker:

That sounds like Laurel and Yearly.

It sounds like "Yanny" in an American accent or "Yearly" in an RP English accent.

It actually sounds like the "talking clock" guy you used to be able to call on a landline :joker:. Does that still exist?

This actually creeps me out. That clip sounds EXACTLY like "Yammy" I'm wondering how people would hear anything other than the "y" sounds at the beginning and end of the word. Although it's definitely not even "Yanny" for me either, I hear an "m" sound for sure not an "n" :joker:

That's what I was thinking yesterday when I listened to it in work, then I went home to play it for my kids and all I could hear was Laurel in a really low voice, kind of like Rick saying Carl from The walking dead  I couldn't believe it, it was weird

I don't know, maybe it was because it was later in the day and I was tired or something so my hearing was worse then? Apparently hearing Yanny means you have better hearing

Try concentrating on the 'deeper' sounding part of the clip, 'laurel' is said in a lower voice than the much higher 'yanny/yammy'

I had absolutely no idea what this was. Only saw memes on it, and assumed it was a feud between two twitter celebrities or something haha. So inevitably I avoided that... until now.

Definitely Laurel.

By the looks of things, it's a lot easier for someone who mainly hears Yanny to also hear Laurel, than for someone who mainly hears Laurel to also hear Yanny. It's interesting.

The main reason I set this thread up was to see if those who hear yanny or yammy see a white and gold dress so far to see who i have asked do so their is definitely a connection there

Lmaoooooo I think I beat the system... I literally hear BOTH being said at the same time now.

It's actually freaky now when you hear both at once :skull: But I guess this kind of explains how people are hearing two different things... both words are actually being said but they blend together somehow?
