I regularly enter a Betway free comp with a prize of £10,000 which entails picking the winner of 4 preselected races. My selections were:
Today's were:
New'mkt 14. 40 Purser - Won at 6/4
Newbury 15.00 Communique - 7/1 (10/1 when I selected it)
New'mkt 15.15 Yafta - 3/1
AND the last race, where I selected the favourite Rhododendron at 3/1 THEN CHANGED MY STUPID MIND to Lancaster Bomber at 10/1 because that was the name of our Quiz team on TIBB.
The favourite won with Lancaster Bomber coming in 3rd. (Both trained by Aidan O'Brien.)
I would have won £10,000.
The worst thing is that I did not have a bet today so I hadn't even had a penny on. :bawling:
Excuse me while I just defend myself against my wife who is hitting me and calling me 'Idiot'

My husband plays this trivia game on his phone that involves splitting the prize with all the winners (at the end of the series of questions) at the end of the live game... I know just to walk away when I hear the music, because if I mumble a word, shift in my chair (causing a squeak), breath the wrong way, fart by accident, flinch etc.. any of it can be blamed on his loss. Usually for the reason you said, Kirk... he changed his answer to the question at the last minute

 I'm not that bad, Maru but I am idiosyncratic when I gamble and do like to really concentrate.

I can't help feeling partly responsible considering I came up with that name :worry: Sorry Kirk!
Although our shocking performance in the quiz should have been a bad omen for you

Lancaster Bomber - the horse that cost me £10,000 by coming in third after I found 3 Winners in a comp - has just WON the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh at odds of 100/30.
I staked £60 from my winnings the other day so The Bomber has netted me £200.
He who waits...
Thank you Jamie89, I wish I could buy you a pint (or two )
