If any one is interested in trying to get rid of those E4 text messages I have discovered from another forum an official petition web site that has been organised.
I have signed. Hope some of you will too. bananarama.

Thanks, Bananarama. I've just signed this. So far, there are only 43 signatures, though. We need a lot more than that!!

i've signed it, don't suppose it will do any good though. They are obviously going to make an absolute fortune from these stupid messages.
Don't send any!

Thanks all. It's gone up to 77 now. It's only been up and running for an hour or so......Apparently. Last night after midnight was awful I just had to give up trying to find a time when they were not there and went to bed. Tried this morning at 7-30 and they were still there. Just switched on again and at first they had gone now they are back again along with dips in the sound.
If you know of any other BB forum links please pass on the petition link to them or any news groups you may know of.
I am beginning to think BB is over for me this year. I feel like doing a Sandy and going over the wall so to speak I have really really had enough of this rubbish coverage by E4.
For me following BB via the update shows only is not enough as you can't really see the into their souls with only a 24 minute showing each day (After adverts).
I am struggling to keep a sense of humour and stay on board but oh boy I am struggling.:bawling::bawling::bawling:

The banner really doesnt bother me at all. You can ignore it and just look at the top part of the screen??

Just why do they have to ruin it for people, they can't seem to get anything right. I think sadly to say that e4's run by a bunch of amateurs on work experience or something. I've got an image of some arrogant little git sitting on a swinging chair with his feet up on the desk enjoying the argro he's causing, because who ever designed that strap on the bottom of the screen taking up half a screen is a moron. If they don't at least try to make it smaller, we'll know what there little game is. ITV did it with celeb survivor but at least it was half decent with the money from the txts going to charity. I think anyway??

If you don't have E4 you are not missing anything this year. At the moment I have just been looking at the text messages combined with the chicken coop and when anything interesting is being talked about the sound goes. If E4 was the only sat channel I was interested in I would have cancell my subscription ASAP

I suppose this is where I have to admit I spend all my time when I watch e4, to watching the two streams via e4 Interactive. The size of the stream's don't bother me, and even better, the chances are if both of the feeds are in the same area if one sound-dips the other probably hasn't. I'm certainly not complaining, though these housemates, particularly Gos, seem to have an addiction to a particular four letter word beginning with 'F'. Sigh.
This all said, when I'm not watching via e4-interactive, the bar absolutly drives me stir crazy (not that I'm already crazy...). However I guess, at the end of the day, we do have to accept that BB costs x amount of money to stage each year and as Endermol, Channel Four Television Corporation and 4 Ventures Limited are companies, money making is going to be one of the priorities for them. If C4 and e4 decided to broadcast a show for non-profit reasons, or just to please the hard-core fans, it would prove an hurrendously expensive mistake. But I'm not showing pro-bar bias... we just happen to live in a capitalist world, and we have to admit that we're watching a commercial television network, so.
Sigh, I hate sounding pessimistic... but such is the world that we live in.
And as PPP does identify, at least we have e4, for those that can't access e4 interactive, or find the streams to small, at least you still get to see 2/3 more than those without e4. Sure, we subscribe to a package that means we pay extra money for e4, which entitles us to access e4, it doesn't mean that "we won't be subjected to adverts, or to gimmics, or anything else that means the television company makes (more) money". I wonder if anyone has the profits for BB 1, BB 2 and BB 3, compared with how much they spend in stageing, production costs, etc. I'd be quite facinated to read that... and also, I'd love to know just how much C4 pays Endermol.

With or without text messages I think you will find that they are laghing all the way to the bank. The truth is they are milking it for as much as they can and not out of need to keep BB afloat so to speak. I have no sympathy for the TV companies greed for profit on this one.
In any capatilistic society there are always some who show the unacceptable face of it. Don't get me wrong I am not anti-capatilist or anything but greed at the expence of peoples enjoyment of media products needs to be challenged and not exused or accepted as inevitable.

All I'm saying if they want to keep the messages fine, but why half the screen? that's what puzzles me, are the txt messages more important than the housemates, it seems so.

The text message bit is so offputting when you're trying to watch the live streaming.
A way round it would be to have the option to see them or not (like the news ticker... where you can press a button to either hide it or show it). That way they'd still be making money *roles eyes* but it wouldn't detract from the viewing of the live screening.
Have signed the petition  .

They've definitely reduced the size of the banner and made it paler, however it remains and some of the comments on there last night were really offensive. After constantly reminding us how sensitive E4 and C4 are about what they can and cannot broadcast they then have a banner full of really nasty remarks about Gos and Justine's weight. I thought many of the comments were downright cruel and much more offensive than a few swear words.

It's improved but still totaly distracting. I noted that it is also on for much longer periods of time.
When I switch on it is there nearly every time and if that's not there the chicken coop is or the sound is muted.
After feeling down about BB4 yesterday I did enjoy the lates update show. If only I could watch E4 in peace without that infantile jibberish floating across the screen.
Having major trouble with my comp as well. Word keeps crashing even after a complete uninstall and re-install. Think windows 98 is corrupted. Unknown teritory for me so I might just finish up being a long time out of contact with the forum if I screw up trying to put things right.:spin2::spin2:
Oh dear your not having a good time of it lately bananarama :bawling:
I'm used to the ticker now especially as they've made it smaller i'm very happy it's changed at least they listened and made it smaller which i was quite suprised about!
I hope you get into BB some more and i hope you forget the ticker's there soon :wavey:

I loathe it too, peachy and LEE. It's downright LAZY!! Children especially who use "text speak" are going to have real difficulties with communication in years to come.

It's terrible...spelling like cos and fink. It's like a language where adult talk like children and children talk like babies.
Little wonder it distracts from the show.
With the banner being a bit smaller I can now adjust the TV to get rid of it. But not without losing even more screen area at the sides. Still it's better than seeing that rubbish zooming across the screen.

I think text speak is alright if you use it in the right circumstances - and know when to use it.
If you are writing a message to one of your friends I think it is okay but not when you are writing an essay or something.:spin:
Its OK when actually texting on phones (though I still hate it and never use it lol) but not when you have space to write things out properly.
I hate it when people use it on here because there is loads of space to write to use proper English.

Whatever happened to "Pitmans" shorthand. Is it not used these days...( Showing my age). Perhaps it should be....That would be a sight for sore eyes to see streaking across the screen.:laugh::laugh:
What i can't understand is why people type 2 instead of to on a text message it takes the same amount of time to type to as it does to type the number 2! Now that has confused you all hasn't it
I still use Pitman's shorthand in the course of my working day, bananarama (showing MY age now!)
In my heyday, I reached the dizzy heights of 140 words a minute!
Now this is why typing in full makes sense
A teenager's in trouble after writing her entire English essay in text messages.
The 13-year-old's teacher said she couldn't understand a word of what the girl had written.
Her essay started:
"My smmr hols wr CWOT. B4, we used 2go2 NY 2C my bro, his GF & thr 3 :- kids FTF. ILNY, it's a gr8 plc."
Just in case you can't read all of it, it says:
"My summer holidays were a complete waste of time. Before, we used to go to New York to see my brother, his girlfriend and their three screaming kids face to face. I love New York. It's a great place."
