Around 30 including 7 suicides - all men in their mid-20's to early 30's.

Sad.

5. My paternal Grandmother and maternal Grandfather (both due to cancer), my paternal great-Grandmother (old age), a family friend’s daughter (died while hiking during an earthquake, in fact it was a major news story here in Singapore, though I’m not going to share a link due to privacy reasons) and an old Friend of mine who jumped off a building...:(

around 9 I am not a big funeral goer unless I knew the person or their family personally, I don't turn up 'just to be seen' like my family do in Ireland, they must average 3 funerals a month :hee:

Only one, my mum's.

This is the same for me, I wouldn't go to the funeral of "an acquaintance" (unless it was e.g. the parent of a close friend where I would go to show support, but none of my friends parents have died). A few of my staff like to go to the funerals of regular customers when they die... if I did that, I would have been to dozens :umm2:.

I would only go to a funeral if it was a family member or an actual friend and - thankfully - I haven't lost any friends thus far, and in terms of my own family, two of my grandparents died before I was born, one when I was 5, and one when I was 7 and my parents thought I was too young to go to those funerals. So I don't actually have any "elderly" relatives to have funerals .

Three of my wife's grandparents are still alive however and now into their 80's, so I can sadly see my "number" increasing a bit over the next ten years.

I'm lucky that my Great Grandfather is the only one and he lived to the grand age of 107 so a good innings

It annoys me no end, people who never bothered with the person or their family when they were alive turn up to funerals... sod off!

This happened when my best friend passed away last year. People who she hadn't seen and probably forgot about showed up, people who didn't even bother to get in touch with her when they found out she had cancer. And I just thought, the cheek of it, really.

People do it for various reasons, mainly for their own guilt

More than I can count, but not any in recent years.

They tend to come in cycles as the generations in your family and their friends hit a certain age
