This BBC 'My World Cup Sticker Mission' 2006 reminisce programme has got me nostalgic.

What is your favourite World Cup? There's enough poll options for all the tournaments.

Vote in the poll when it appears.

Uruguay 1930 · Italy 1934 · France 1938 · Brazil 1950 · Switzerland 1954 · Sweden 1958 · Chile 1962 · England 1966 · Mexico 1970 · West Germany 1974 · Argentina 1978 · Spain 1982 · Mexico 1986 · Italy 1990 · United States 1994 · France 1998 · South Korea/Japan 2002 · Germany 2006 · South Africa 2010 · Brazil 2014 · Russia 2018

I think 2002 is the one I got most into. Our school used to show the matches in the morning and I loved going in early for them, I was only nine but that England-Brazil quarter final is still really clear in my mind

Also remember just playing Ant and Dec - We're on the Ball on repeat all summer

It would have to be Argentina 78. I stood at Hampden and cheered the Scotland team off to the world cup .... Ally's army

From an England point of view in my lifetime it's no contest Italia 90. Gazza at his brilliant best. Platts winner against Belgium.

Brilliant music including World in motion and this iconic tournament theme song.

AcE86JmIN3EWhat happened to Scottish football? They used to produce World class players, yet they haven't produced one for 30+ years.

Some World class players they produced

Dave Mackay
Dennis Law
Jimmy Johnstone
Jim Baxter
Billy Bremner
Danny McGrain
Kenny Dalglish
Alan Hansen

Italia 90 by far, we got to the quarter finals which was the best we've ever done  there was such a great atmosphere around it.

98 was the first one I got incredibly hyped by - I had a big encyclopedia-style book with all of the squads and countries, I absolutely LOVED the Nintendo 64 video game (one of the best ever football games, imo) and I remember vividly the Beckham red card, but also random pockets of games against Colombia and Tunisia. As an Arsenal fan it also saw the rise of our future (or current) superstars like Henry, Vieira, Petit and Pires.

Also, the mascot was cute.

There was A LOT of hype with South Africa hosting the World Cup back then so that’s my choice...

Not really into the World Cuo, though I’m regularly updated because majority of my Friend circle watch it religiously...

It was the formation of the Premier League in England that started the decline, in my opinion. When the English teams started signing more players from abroad it meant Scottish players weren't getting a chance to play at a high club-level, like they had previously.

Watched a great documentary on the 78 Scottish team on BBC last night, all these Scots thinking they were actually gonna win the thing then they can't beat Iran
