Thinking about it for the summer bc my OH hates flying, what are some of y’alls experiences?

Marsh.

I wouldn't personally but my friend went last year to work in summer camps in America and he said he would definitely go away alone again

I love the idea but I think it’d get to a point where I’d be bored (unless it was more like traveling)

Sorta. When I was way more exciting than I am now, work would make me go to places alone/with people I hated. I’d go on excursions and stuff alone on the weekends and still enjoyed it. Almost felt therapeutic haha.

Well I guess I’m not gonna do it then, thanks for y’alls input :skull:

You could've made more effort with your spelling mistakes in this one.

The act is crumbling.

My friend does and she loves it.

It's okay if it's a relaxing holiday but if you want to go out at night it's not?

Have thought about it as I generally like my own company and often do things on my own but a holiday is a bit of a bigger commitment and expense. A long weekend is probably the most I'd go for

Not exactly adventurous but when I was younger my parents had a little tourer caravan down on the west coast of Wales, right by the sea, and one weekend we all went down for the 2 days then I decided to stay for about 3 days on my own there and got the train back up home. Was only 16 I think, must have been just after my GCSE's. Was brilliant sitting out watching the sun set behind the sea every night, not a care in the world.

Couple of mates came with me a few times after that for some weekends. Ah to be young again!!

I would love to but worried I'd get bored.

Maybe start with a weekend or something and see how it goes?

I like my own company so yes, I would.

I almost went to pride on my own but I had a kind offer I couldn’t refuse so I went with someone instead

Never gone on holiday alone... like I literally never even thought of doing that lol... but I feel like it'd actually be good depending on where / what kind of trip.

Idk if what im doing right now counts as I'm technically not alone, but I'd love to travel by myself one day

That’s the way I sould see it, you would have a rubbish time and chalk it up to experience or you would love it and make it a regular thing.

I suppose it just depends on if you’re a person who likes their own company. I’m not and know I would be terribly bored without other people, but, that’s just because I don’t enjoy my own company.

If you enjoy being at home alone I don’t see why it would be different on holiday.

Depends where! If it’s a relaxing / beach holiday then you’ll probs bore yourself but if it’s a city where there’s lots to do and see then you can work to your own accordance and keep yourself busy

You could get kidnapped/murdered putting the bins out or walking the dog, don't let that stop you.

Our alleys have gates on so if i got murdered putting the bins out it would have to be a neighbour but i get serial killer vibes from one of them anyway

I've been on "city breaks" for long weekends alone, usually when I'm going to gigs and stuff. The thing with that is, when I go to gigs I often make new friends there, because I start queueing up super early to get a good standing place, so I get chatting with the other saddoes, who I sometimes already know from other gigs, so it's not like an entirely lonely experience [/sperging out no-one cares about]

But anyway, I'm considering going to the USA by myself for a week or two.

Yes, three times so far, if not including a couple of long business trips (with a cheeky weekend holiday in-between).

I can see why people might think it's weird/sad at first, but it's not like that at all. It's very liberating and a good way to explore both the world and treating yourself. Don't be afraid of your own company. It's healthy.
