What was the first games console you ever owned?

Mine was an atari I was addicted to the Smurfs game which was essentially just the same level over and over just a little faster each time [emoji23]

And also a spectrum.

I personally owned many Nintendo handhelds including the Gameboy, Gameboy Colour,Gameboy Advance, DS, and 3DS. My family didn't get a console because my parents hated video games but finally we got a Wii because it was "active". In the last few years I have purchased a Wii U and Switch, but last Black Friday got a PS4 and have realized what I was missing out on.

I had both of those.

Atari first, then an Acorn Electron, then a Speccie zx, then a Commodore 64, then a Mega Drive and finally a Playstation.

I had a ZX Spectrum with rubber keys, Jet Set Willy was the best game.
My brother had a Commodore 64 and an Atari.

I got a Sega Megadrive and was amazed by the speed of loading the games.....after spending years waiting for tapes to load up, then crash, then try again.

Either Nintendo 64 or GameCube

I remember playing Mario Kart 64 after Nursery onwards (2/3 years old) but I got a GameCube when I was 5. I'm sure I have a memory of playing Super Mario Sunshine younger than that though

First that was officially a "console" was PS1, although the oldest console I now own is a SEGA MasterSystem.

But the first "thing I gamed on" was one of these badboys:

...you could rent and copy games for it using a 2-deck HiFi :joker:

Though my first true love was this beauty

And then onto PC gaming on the Compaq Presario 486/66, DOS and Windows 3.1 (later upgraded to Windows 95) :laugh2:

I still have my sega master system and play it occasionally I loved Alex the kidd in miracle world and ghouls n ghosts [emoji23]I'm slowly developing a retro consoles / games collection. Got the Master System and Ultima 4 for my wife's 30th birthday because she was obsessed with it as a kid :joker:.

The games cost as much as the consoles though... I have a mint condition SNES Zelda that was over £70 :omgno:. Also a mint condition original grey GameBoy in box that's worth a bit.

Considering breaking into my friend's parents house because I know for a fact that there's a cupboard there packed full of his old N64 cartridges, all in brilliant condition, most worth £50+ and I'm pretty sure he has no idea they're worth anything at all :joker:.

I imagine it stands a good chance of being included with the inevitable N64 mini.

We literally just took a lot of our retro gear to the resale shops. The only thing i kept was my Genesis (Megadrive) with all the original Sonic games. The rest just collected dust  I could display those things in my room, but I barely have enough space for my studio gear and my drafting table... also have a little meditation spot and a place to write in my journal... I did used to have a CRT for playing old games (because old games look like a jaggy mess on an LCD...)... had to leave it when we moved halfway across the country... :spin:

A "treat" I would love though, I've said to my husband, is to be able to play a lot of the Japanese classics.. so an important PS1 would be nice. I can read Japanese and enjoy playing imports... I picked up a lot of everyday vocabulary farming in Harvest Moon, and I had my Wii hacked and setup for all that, but the hard drive crashed and I just never got around to changing it out. Also a PSP, but I would just love to own some originals... they make retro consoles that play a few of the older systems, but nothing that plays the PS1 games... my greatest era aside from the Genesis era... imo. Though I did own Phantasy Star Online v2 in Japanese and I could boot it on my DC and play it before they locked it down, and used to have a japanese sub before they finally ported it to here... we could convert our characters with codebreaker hack, so that was awesome ...
