That will be an interesting meeting.
Isn't collusion supposed to happen behind the scenes? The Mueller investigation is rumored to be wrapping up, so what would be really interesting is if the results were to be released just before or during this visit...

For an insane old man you have to give him credit.Surely we should measure success on doing more GOOD than just doing "loads". Yes he does a lot, and yes some of it is seemingly good, but there's also a huge chunk that's been harmful . Maybe if he did less, he'd have more time to think things through before doing them... Instead of it just being pot luck.

I like to believe that I am learned and astute enough to know the many flaws that Trump has, but what I am referring to are certain posts which are not only infused with patently-transparent, personal detestation of Trump, but which also 'regurgitate' anti-Trump news and imagery in substantiation when such news and imagery has already been proven to be fake.
At the same time, posts which attack and criticise Corbyn are met with vociferous umbrage, even though such posts contain nothing but proven fact.
In my opinion,of course.

I am at a loss as to why you mention me bringing Corbyn in when I feel that it is perfectly clear that I am comparing the hypocrisy in it being acceptable for posts to contain fake news, imagery, and allegations when the subject is Trump, whilst posts which contain nothing but facts are met with aggressive responses when the subject is Corbyn.

I have merely responded to your questions which were directed to me and am having a friendly discussion with you, that's all my friend.
I am certainly not trying to take advantage of you because English is not your first language, Lime, I am not that type of person, and I admire the standard of your English.

Yeah, that was... I don't want to say a disaster, because a lot more could've gone wrong. His focus on hating on the press and protecting his own ego is such that he's willing to throw the entire intelligence community under the bus... that is how it sounded right at the end before they walked off.
On the positive, it sounds like there are beginnings of a foundation there being built for the US/Russia relationships to improve, whereever that leads. I'd be excited that Putin so willing to send people here to help us with our invesigations, etc, if I didn't think that would be another backdoor to spy on us :spin:... Putin is a former intelligence officer after all, and Trump is a former businessman, sure, but he's not a hardened dictator...
So I'm a little bit nervous about how badly that could go if Trump ignores our own intelligence agencies and decides to take up Putin's offering(s) without acceptable pre-conditions... another way I read that, Putin could have also been taking advantage of Trump's willingness to arm himself with any sort of knowledge that would help him to win the fight in the media... something he is clearly still preoccupied with at this point.

This is absurd; your president was up at the podium kissing the arse of a dictator who murders journalists, attacked your country, and undertook a chemical weapons attack on British soil, and he was armed only with multiple debunked conspiracy theories concerning servers and pakistani dudes.
Your response? A lot more could have gone wrong and it's positive we may have better relations with russia.
It's this kind of mealy mouthed response that allows trump to get away with supporting the charlottesville Nazi's, backing a child molester for senate, and the other litany of crimes and misdemeanors he's gotten away with already.

In a dictatorship, nothing like this happens without the express authorisation of the person in charge. You're being naive a best, if you think journalists criticising putin and his regime, are being murdered without purpose or reason. Everything is connected to putin, as reported by other journalists that now live in fear for their lives too.
I also find it illuminating that you decided to leave out the part of my sentence that highlighted the attack on the USA and the chemical weapons attack in Britain, neither of which were undertaken by the chinese.

What deals has trump done? Russia has to sell gas because their economy is pretty terrible. They already have sanctions imposed on them, and they are still desperate to deal their gas. They would shoot themselves in the foot if they stopped to prove a point.
The president of the US stood next to a russian dictator and spewed all of russia's talking points for them. What a deal maker he is. Let's rejoice.

I doubt it too - though this is undoubtedly the lamest goof he has made.
I think we will be seeing him rechristened 'Teflon Trump'.
I don't think that the press and public opinion being upset with him is enough to get someone impeached. So I don't understand going on about how a conversation will be the end of Trump, etc. He's our elected president, so we don't really have a choice in the matter of whether or not to deal with Trump or his appointees...
One of the conservative sites immediately pointed out how terrible this came out, but yeah in the comment sections, users were quick to attack the writer(s) and so yes even his staunchest fans will think he is doing perfectly fine and Trump gonna be Trump, etc.
I don't think it's OK the way he threw our intelligence agencies under the bus to come out looking better politically. The reaction would've been 100x worse if it were the military and I think the right specifically would have an issue with this. This isn't any better though imo for me as both communities are quite deeply entrenched in one another. I also have intelligence people in the family, so to hear this outloud is damaging to not only their morale, but they will still do their job(s) despite that rhetoric...
Is it the most damaging thing he could've ever done? Absolutely not. He could've signed a 5-yr deal yesterday or something that had major implications for us all, on the basis of those incendiary commentaries... but no, it seems more like he's concerned about coming off like he's completely innocent in an open investigation. I'm less worried about how he will appear in the press (I couldn't care less about this aspect) than I am about how that will affect our efficacy abroad and whether or not certain red flags go unchecked if they do decide to cooperate in the background, etc... that worries me, but at the same time, I know first hand the type of people that network and work in those backgrounds and they are the highest breed when it comes to integrity and national priorities... I don't think those folk would stand idly by if they had a choice in the matter.
The comment I disliked the most was about the time they were walking out and he slammed the entire FBI. Yes, slam the way it's being run and how so many leaks and biases are going unchecked... but surely the entire organization isn't irreconcilable? That was my biggest issue with the press conference.
If the conference emphasized anything for me, it was that we need this investigation to be closed as soon as possible. Not really just because we need to put this behind us (that's going to take much longer imo), but because folk here really do deserve answers as to what is going on not only in front of us in these conferences, but behind the scenes in terms of what sort of obsfiscation is possibly going on... whether it's Trump or some other orchestrated effort, it's important the people have those details. All the rest is just partisan bickering/nonsense and I tune out after that point...

On one hand, the people deserve answers.
But on the other, it's important we close the investigation ASAP?
This is an investigation that has already got guilty pleas from some of the people closest to trump's campaign, and more and more people are being indicted.
Was the upset right clamouring for an end to the Benghazi show trials? Investigators and prosecutors that worked on watergate have all said how quickly and efficiently Mueller is running things. Finding out the truth is far more important than wrapping things up ASAP.
You speak a lot of sense Maru. Everyone wants results to investigations, and they want them now. But I think I'm correct in saying watergate took 8 years, and that typically, investigations take at least 4 years. So I wouldn't hold my breath now

Many saying beginning of the end. It should be but I doubt it. Just the optics of Putin throwing Donnie the ball, mentioning he used to be a KGB director and laughing when asked directly if he had dirt on Trump and of course Donnie siding against his intelligence agency. It all said Strong leader V clown. Should be enough to end it but I still dont know.
Nah, I think this is going to be it for him, I can't see him coming back from dumping on his own government in favour of siding with the opposition to preserve his ego.

Yeah I remember when they first announced this investigation, it was said by some folk it would take probably at least 2 years, maybe longer. So it's not surprising how long it's gone on at this point... I do think they are being as quick as possible, given the circumstances. It'll be done when it's done basically.

I doubt it too - though this is undoubtedly the lamest goof he has made.
I think we will be seeing him rechristened 'Teflon Trump'.Now he's come out with the ridiculous spin, I think he's got a long way to go to get that title. They should send him out abroad every week. It'll end his presidency quicker than any investigation

The lights going out during his press conference was an interesting one. Was it the Russians, showing who has control?

....hmmm, well Russia has had to put up with their own authoritarian leader..and putting him into darkness, whether accidentally or purposely would not go down well as he KNOWS PEOPLE..etc, etc...but an authoritarian leader from the west as well..maybe a step too far...this town/this country ain’t big enough for the both of you..?...you’re not the boss of us, so...we don’t have to listen to you as well..?....black screen, gone...pooof...
