View Full Version : Horses hoofs.
You never see horses shoes swell up in the heat like train tracks..
Why is this?

Grass doesn't retain as much heat as paving/tarmac I guess. Only animals I'm aware of suffering from the heat are dogs being taken for walks in paved areas (I think you're supposed to test it by placing your hand on the pavement, and if you can't hold it there for 5 seconds without it hurting then it's unsafe to walk them).

Ooo, yeah i have seen some nasty pics of dogs paws after they have been walking on hot pavements.

Speaking of horse shoes, have you seen these ones, they're clip on shock absorbing plastic ones, they look so much more comfy for them

Probably sneak up on you and rob your polos with them on....but
It would be funny if they started walking like some dogs do when you put their little shoes on them.

They look like a better idea to me, I always thought those metal ones most be horrible to walk with especially on concrete

I don't know  Hopefully not many people are out riding on the poor horses in this heat anyway so they wouldn't be wearing them

Why is this?
Because they are always shaded by the horse.
