A gang of poachers who broke into a South African game reserve to hunt rhinos came off second best when they were attacked and eaten by a pride of hungry lions.

At least three hunters are believed to have been devoured by the predators, judging by the bloody scene on the Sibuya Game Reserve near Kenton-on-Sea in Eastern Province, South Africa.

One head and a number of bloodied body parts and limbs have been recovered from the area, along with three pairs of empty shoes.

Must be even more horrible for the poor rhinos just minding their business but constantly being hunted just for their greed...

I agree and having watched quite a few documentaries over the years and witnessed just how savagely and callously these ivory-poachers slaughter elephants and rhinos, I REALLY could not care less how they met their end. Karma - pure and simple.

A story about horrible hunting bastards that ends well instead of them killing yet another beautiful animal. Well done to the lions, tbh

Some people eat lions... animals' meat is meat, isn't it? Cows, lions, dogs - kill it and call yourself disgusting bastard, pay other to kill it out of sight and put it in a nice package and call it need to survive.

also "eat to survive", is a stretch.

Right, while they weren't aiming for this poor animal's flesh, they craved another body part of it.
I don't see it as an end justifying the means. It's a living animal minding its own business being violently attacked/hurt/shot/slaughtered/skinned/butchered/etc for the sake of its attackers' pleasure - be it financial pleasure, gastronomic pleasure, fame and glory, fashion or arts. Is it less cruel? A dead victim could hardly care less about the "why"s of its attack.
In the end of the day, it's a violent action like the ones happening behind the high walls of slaughterhouses. There's a reason why it's mostly being hidden from kids, because we know it's unbearably violent.
I'm not blaming (I was a meat eater too) as much as I just thought it was something worth pointing out. This shock will disappear in the next "how do you like your bacon" thread in the chat forum.

Again i dont think anyone is under any illusion how animals are killed unless they live under a rock but whilst yes its animals being killed its just not the same as a comparison

This is so well written
You're right, but until we can grow meat in vats the best we can do is to provide as painless death as it is possible and regulate hunting. Humans like eating meat, we are omnivores by design
