PM Boris?

If any of them truly cared about this country, they'd be working together to get a good Brexit deal, but they've just wasted time with their petulant power plays. First, May triggers Article 50 BEFORE an election (in which she actually lost a significant amount of power), then Boris constantly making underhanded moves. The lot of them are not fit to govern any longer, the big Tory players have poisoned the party.

Brexit will be good for politicians. They will be in charge of more laws, like environment, employment, etc etc
The big business will be even more in cahoots with them, buttering them up and dangling prospects of cushy jobs for later, in exchange for suitable big business-friendly regulations
Big business doesn't like annual leave, minimum wage, environmental protections etc
The sad thing is that the little people who voted for it think it will make their situation easier. Let's wait and see

sent me this:

[Typical of Boris.

Must have been such a tough decision to give up his BMW diplomatic 7 series car and his grace and favour residence.
But this wasn't such a hard decision as:
1. He has already lost out on going to the World Cup in his current job because of the Novichok incident
2. It's the summer vacation so he can take a nice long holiday and not worry about staying in London and the Foreign Secretary responsibilities
3. The most important reason - he wants to be PM and if he didn't resign he would eliminate any chance of that happening]

How many people in this thread actually voted in the referendum I wonder, it is an unholy mess and the UK is a laughing stock, and before anyone mentions the SNP don't forget she is trying to mess with democracy by holding another 'once in a lifetime ref' and they dropped the voting age to 16 to ensure the right result which they didn't get, so it will probably be dropped to 12 for the next one :idc:

Indeed. I can't believe she didn't take the oppurtunity to leave it all after the disastrous GE results.

I actually think (and here comes the conspiracy theorist in me  ) that she has been told she cannot step down until after the Brexit mess is done with. So that they can blame her for the mess it makes, and claim it was all her fault and that the next leader is not so stupid, etc. Shes basically the scapegoat. I think this as well, I think part of the deal of getting to be PM was that she had to see Brexit through, at this stage I think the Tories would be happy for Labour to be in power as Brexit is no win, you are going to pee off more or less half the voting population which ever way you fall

Tbh I don't see how a change in leadership is going to change anything? It will still have a lot of the same backbenchers who are still just as confused with what to do with Brexit as they was when the people first voted for it back in 2016, just with a new face to represent them.

I don't know why the public are so pissed off about the idea of a soft brexit, they voted for it. The information was there that May's government flip flopped on basically every issue so why is it a surprise that she's going for a soft brexit after saying that bull**** about no deal's better than a bad deal? The writing was on the wall but people simply didn't want to hear.

a vote for the tories in the last election was a vote for a soft brexit. Tory voters are getting what they voted for.

Also supporting Rees-Moggs is the same as supporting homophobia, he does not believe in equal rights for gay people. Nobody who is that bigoted should be allowed near Downing Street because they cannot represent the people if they believe that not all citizens should be treated equally.

It's gone waaaay past that... farage openly advocates the marginalisation of people on live link to the US and berates people for insulting a world leader ...by insulting a world leader.

If your latest lump everyone together statement about supporting mogg makes you support homophobia is true then look, look at me supporting homophobia.....sounds daft eh
..you play video games so you must support all the murderers and rapists that commit crimes after playing these games!!

But you dont, cause that would be as stupid as the other stupid comment.

We don't know what brexit we will end up with as it's still to be negotiated. A white paper is a strategy only. I don't see the EU budging on their proposals one bit, when have they ever done so before, so why would people think they would now?

The most likely scenario now is a no deal with something fudged together during the transition period after we have left. If that's where we end up, that will be a pretty hard brexit.

I kind of wish Cameron never resigned. He was a more (I can't think of a better phrase) strong and stable leader; could probably keep his Cabinet together through all this; and would regularly make toast of Corbyn during PMQs, instead of the limp draws we keep having.

I will be surprised if May clings to her precarious position too much longer. I think there's too much appeasement of remainers and the EU with little or no thought going to those who voted leave.

And just to clarify for everyone... there is no one in the Tory party who is on the "extreme Right". No one.

You could say that about anything, why focus on Brexit when there are far more important issues? ETC.

It's silly logic that only serves to minimise issues that YOU are uncomfortable with. Having a potential PM that doesn't believe in equal rights for all citizens is problematic as hell, you just don't care because you think it's okay because it doesn't affect you. Your continued lack of empathy for everyone that is different from you is quite worrying.

As for whether or not it's an important issue, I'd say it definitely is. Supporting the idea that gay people should essentially not be given access to the same rights based on their sexuality is a massive civil issue and would be a step backwards. Having a potential candidate for Prime Minister that opposes equal rights should be hugely worrying for everyone.

May isn't going anywhere. No-one with serious political ambitions will take that job on at the moment, and its unlikely anyone would beat her in a leadership challenge. They would need 169 votes to defeat her.

Rees-Moog is a hate filled hypocrite though.

He is also against any form of abortion at any time, including rape cases. While at the same time supplying drugs to Indonesia and India that are used for abortion

It's not just one thing with this guy, he is a true nasty piece of work

I knew he opposed abortion regardless of the circumstances which is gross but I didn't know that he profited from drugs that cause abortion, I googled it to make sure and it's true.

An awful person. He's opposed to equal rights for gay people, opposes women's rights to choose what to do with their own body and is a hypocrite to boot.

Brexit is happening and it's happening the way people voted for. It doesn't need saving. The people are getting what they wanted.

Funny how one guy gathers all this faux hatred when there is a whole bunch of people coming to, and already arrived in britain that have a much much stronger negative opinion on homosexuality than jrm will ever have.....makes no sense to me.

Ah, I wondered how long it would be before immigration was brought into it.

There's a big difference between a minority of hateful people and a potential leader of the country being opposed to both equal and women's rights. It shouldn't really need explaining tbh.
