We don't know what brexit we will end up with as it's still to be negotiated. A white paper is a strategy only. I don't see the EU budging on their proposals one bit, when have they ever done so before, so why would people think they would now?

The most likely scenario now is a no deal with something fudged together during the transition period after we have left. If that's where we end up, that will be a pretty hard brexit.

As for whether or not it's an important issue, I'd say it definitely is. There's a big difference between a minority of hateful people and a potential leader of the country being opposed to both equal and women's rights. It shouldn't really need explaining tbh.
