One thing that annoys me about the TD fanbase is the misuse of the word "derailment". It gets used and tossed around a lot just when a character acts much differently when in reality it means someone acting the complete opposite without any rhyme or reason. There's multiple examples of the misuse of this people use such as on TDA Courtney (ICON :love: ) as well as Dave but one that really annoys me is when people bring up Geoff in TDA and how "mean" he gets but ignoring the fact that that was the whole point of his storyline that he got corrupted by greed and fame, Geoff always had a mean side. I'm less than a minute into Basic Straining and he's already being a right dick to Harold.

The only case of "out of character/character derailment" I've seen on the show is TDAS Gwen. Vile.

Bridgette is definitely one of the most overrated contestants imo and if you're offended by that then it proves my point. She's not a terrible character and isn't as offensively popular as VILE dicks like Cody and Noah, but at best she was pretty lukewarm and didn't really leave much of an impression on me.

Yeah I think the gimmicks of themes made the show lose its sight real fast. Season 3 was a mess in terms of theme because as well as it being a world tour (which is a good theme but could've been done better) it was also a musical which meant there was a song in every episode. Idk I just think the gimmicks got in the way of the concept.

After TDI i think I'll go a different route instead of TDA like everyone else and go for RR for the dozenth or so time, mainly because I HATE the fact that people forget there's two endings and everyone thinks it's the ****ty one that made no sense as the official one whereas the official ending is the one of a) one of the best and most deserving teams and b) was the Netflix ending aka where you can't even vote for a winner. And the Netflix winners have all been the ones that have made more sense storyline-wise for all seven seasons.

Regardless, TDWT still did plenty of new things in spite of a returning cast. They brought back Cody, Noah, Tyler and Ezekiel after them being absent and fans wanting them all back at some point, they introduced 3 new contestants, they did challenges based on areas traveled to in the world, there was a song every episode, it's the only season where you're encouraged to root for an antagonist, it had the first love triangle, it had 3 teams, and probably more too

Again I'm not saying that TDWT and TDA are bad seasons and even though TDA is my least favourite it's not bad. I just think the writers have worked best when there's an All new cast.

I'd be perfectly fine with some of the TDI cast being in every series but to have new faces every so often keeps it fresh and true to the Reality TV format.

I'm definitely coming round to TDA now, since the first aftermath. Like it still feels way less memorable than TDI and the elimations just feel quite unceremonious but I really rate how most of the cast have had their own little storyline... Bridgette and Geoff's relationship breakdown, Izzy's every-changing identity, Trent going crazy, Gwen's fall from grace, DJ's moral dilemma, Lindsay finding her voice, Justin's charm wearing off... even freakin Katie and Sadie have their thing on Aftermath.

Not doing a spoiler warning cause I think that's pretty pointless since the BBUK watch thread never does that:

I LOVED Heather's TDA elimination in ep 15 :love: They built it up like any other vote off with Leshawna going but then suddenly Heather was randomly voted out. I'd argue it was even more impressively shocking than Courtney's TDI elimination because even there the argument can be made that all her exposure in that episode was building up to her being out fairly soon with how wrapped up she was. So when Leshawna massively ****s up, has to win trust back and then randomly survives against Heather it really is something and one of the reasons why Million Dollar Babies is one of the best ever :love:

22. Ezekiel - In a cast lacking in offensiveness, it's obvious the first boot would be this low. I found the sexism thing a little funny as he seemed like an idiot without being raised right and I'm glad he learned things by the special but he's still otherwise insignificant.

21. Beth - Almost completely irrelevant up until when she stood up to Heather which is completely overshadowed by Lindsay doing the same thing better.

20. Noah - This is how I wish Noah turned out. An egotistical lazy prick who gets called out for it is a fitting role for him, even if it was as brief and underdeveloped as it was in TDI.

19/18. Katie/Sadie - Now for two people I always try and ironically like but never do! They had their moments but after a while they kind of become a broken record. Two annoying best friends who are really close but then randomly fight can only be funny for so long. After that it's just irritating. Even after being separated, Sadie did almost nothing on her own apart from her iconic elimination ("I'VE GOT HER THIS TIME!" *aims for arrow target and shoots apples at Courtney's face*)

17. Tyler - Another person with some great moments (Dodgebrawl and Phobia Factor) but was still mostly insignificant to the goings on of the season.

16. Cody - I know I've criticised him a lot but I didn't actually mind him in the first season. Just a harmless pervy dorky loser who was funny when he failed at life/got hurt but still had a few minor annoying aspects to him. I mean didn't he sniff Gwen at one point? :skull:

15. Justin - lol idc. I know Justin gets stick for how rare he talks but even before his iconic manipulation in the special, he had some great small moments. Everyone falling in love with him the second he arrives<3. Stopping sharks from eating him just by looking at them<3 Sleeping during the sleep challenge by PAINTING his eyelids to stop people noticing<3

14. Trent - He only exists to be a love interest to Gwen but his dedication to her was still pretty admirable, and the times Lindsay, Owen and DJ randomly mutilated him by accident<3

13. Eva - I feel a little sorry for her, she had a short fuse but I don't think she's a bad person, just bad at BEING a person :joker: Her getting eliminated because she flipped out about losing her MP3 player, returning and being eliminated WITHIN the episode of returning because she threatened everyone upon returning was a highlight :love:

12. DJ - Hard to gauge when I'd watch an episode of him being cute and funny or when I'd watch many episodes in a row of him not doing anything and fit to be out much earlier than he was?

11. Bridgette - The most overrated of the cast easily. Bridgette was a likeable down to earth no-pushover female but...so were Gwen and Leshawna. And both were far bigger personalities too. From her personality to her role in storylines, everything about her was only okay for me.

10. Geoff - A solid and funny contestant throughout but one overshadowed by Owen in a lot of his best aspects. THANK GOD that underrated icon TDA Geoff came around and made him a three-dimensional and really interesting character <3

9. Izzy - She was never really an important or even interesting character, just a random funny oddball who did funny **** every time she was on screen, she added some comedic value to the merge.

8. Leshawna - I was expecting a hard-hitting, sassy fiery contestant all the way through but what I got was someone only pretty good at that. Leshawna was intended at the start to be a side character with some great moments sprinkled throughout and she succeeded sure, but it pales in comparison to when they actually expanded on her and made her more flawed and complex the season after, anothervreason to prefer TDA<3

7. Harold - An absolute scream whenever he talks :love: He's so detached from social norms compared to most of the cast so he works really well all on his own without relying on anyone else.

6. Gwen - She was really enjoyable and easy to relate to as many have already said although she doesn't really wow me like she used to.

5. Owen - It may be a surprise to hear this, but I think Owen is actually one of the most underrated of his season. I think it's because in the opinion of many, he's the official winner instead of Gwen who many were probably rooting for at the time but I much prefer him winning tbh. A classic comic relief the whole way through full of great comedy

4. Courtney - Some Courtney haters like to think her character was 'derailed' into being mean but lmaono she was so mean right from the start and was always going to explode at some point. I think that's why the pairing with Duncan was so enjoyable in the first season as he always brought that side out of her. But even as early as the first season Courtney has those rare moments of vulnerability that make her an interesting character.

3. Lindsay - She may have been quite ditzy, gullible and shallow but ironically was the most likeable and funny in spite of that. Lindsay had me laughing hard at most of her lines but more importantly, she's easy to sympathise with. She's not friends or clings to Heather for the season because she wants to stay in longer, she does it because she actually did think they were friends and I found it sweet of her to think like that even if it was her downfall</3 "BUT THEY'RE RIGHT. YOU REALLY ARE A TWO FACED BACKSTABBING LYING LITTLE ********************'

2. Duncan - He was crude, unpredictable, threatening, rude and dangerous but still floated all the way to the end game<3. But I also think Duncan doesn't really like his flaws and his occasional kindness to others was how he lasted so long and I loved the secret vulnerabilities he had to him of secretly caring what others thought of him which caused the iconic anti-hero of the show he ended up being.

1. Heather - Who else but her? Heather was a non-stop powerhouse of entertainment. Whether it be her witty insultive one-liners, her wide variety of enjoyable interactions or her cutthroat villainy, she really livened things up as perfectly as she could've and was instrumental to nearly all the best moments in this season. Some complain she got off too lucky sometimes but looking back I think that's the point. That someone so self-absorbed and bossy still gets what they want somehow because life isn't always fair like that, plus it makes her humiliating elimination all the more rewarding to viewers :love: I think most importantly though was her in the special. After everyone but Harold rejects bring on her team she eventually opens up about not liking being mean, that it's a habit and that she's not happy about being bald and it's such a sudden sad moment for the villain of all people. She still ends up being as mean as she is in the rest of the series but that moment and a few others help shine hee as a flawed antagonist rather than an unlikeable one
