you can only save either your spouse or your child. Which is it?

Saw this on Twitter and a load of women were saying they would save their husbands as they felt they would be 'unable to raise a child alone due to 'depression caused by my spouse dying' and 'me and my spouse could always have another baby after mourning'.

It was originally for women choosing their babies or their husbands but I've made it more open ended. Results private so you can be honest!

I'm gonna take a wild guess that those women are not yet mothers?

I'd be too depressed to take care of you so you can just die and then me and hubby can just make another baby are not the words of normal people the. :unsure:

I feel like any decent parent would rather their child be saved over them and would probably resent their partner for choosing to save them instead.

To be honest... I don't think I could live with myself - and I don't think my wife could ever forgive me - if I chose ANY adult over ANY child in a life or death situation.

This is just too horrific to even contemplate, but for your poll purposes, I would have to save my children first - which is what I know that I'd do anyway.

God forbid that I ever be placed in such a scenario though.

To be realistic though its never going to happen because my overzealous landlords have put three interlinked smoke detectors and a heat detector in my semi-detached house, and they go off in a deafening cacophony when I make a piece of toast.

Sorry but if my husband let the kids die to save me, I would be leaving him for it anyway. Won't it be a jolly conversation when he comes up to bed, going to ask him this :D

I think (for most people) it's almost in in built instinct to protect children over anyone especially your own children
