Biggest opinion changes you've had on housemates? (including CBB)

Whether because of a different effect they have on you over time, or being better on rewatch, we all have those housemates we don't like at first but suddenly really enjoy/ones we really like but eventually can't stand, so which ones for you? When answering, make it clear whether you mean ones you eventually liked or ones you eventually didn't like.

Ahmed - Thought he was a sleazy boring homophobe at first but eventually he ended up being iconic and one of the stand out personalities of his series
Shahbaz - Thought he was too irritating the first time watching but now I felt quite sorry for him and think his worst behaviour was acting out in response to how he was treated
Isabelle - Originally thought she was just another desperate casting choice by the producers to stir up things between Kieran and Rebecca, but she ended up being one of the most likeable and deserving winners in the show
John McCririck - Thought I'd find him really annoying but actually one of the most compelling and unique housemates the show has had
Paul Danan - Hated how he was to Sarah and Karthik at first but he quickly won me over and I was quite gutted when he left

Disliked
Richard (BB7) - Thought I'd find him witty, likeable and funny, instead I found him immature, unlikeable and nasty multiple times
Caroline (BB13) - Thought she'd be a stand-out posh personality that would keep me laughing but instead one of the bitchiest, hypocritical and spiteful the show has had.
Austin - Enjoyed him at first and thought he was more logical and blunt than the other Americans but gradually he turned out a right dick.

Caroline for me as well. Her VT was a scream and then she was just a hateful, try hard moron.

Michael Barrymore - see the first watch thread. I initially said he seemed like a decent man, hoooooooly ****aroo was i wrong

James Whale - thought he was a knob on launch, and thought he’d be thrown out quite quickly. turned out to be the best housemate of CBB18 after Renee.

Angie Best - thought she’d be an eccentric motherly figure but she was just a pain in’t arse at the end of the day.

Ellie Young - but I just know that type of person would fool me again

Wayne Sleep - thought he’d be quite interesting but he did bugger all really.

Danielle McMahon - thought she would be annoying and I didn’t like her beliefs against gay marriage but she turned out to be such a howl.

1. Pauline- The Poster Child when it comes to Changing Opinions

2. Carole- The Complete Opposite to her VT. She Completely Drained all the fun that series had.

3. Nick (BB16) - I Thought he would be The New Ben

4. Ray J- The Complete Opposite to his VT, A Complete Bore and Wasted Signing

5. Speidi -Loved Them on CBB11 and i thought they would Bring the Drama and Entertainment. However, they were in the Background for most of the series, Having only a few good moments.

Those i thought i wouldn't Like

1. Isabelle- I Though she would be a Dumb Blonde Bimbo who would align herself with Lotan's Gang. How Wrong was I!

2. Gina- Like the majority of people on first impressions, she came across as a Rich Snob who thought she was better than everyone else. Gradually over the next few weeks we saw her true personality. Her Story Arc is one of the best ever this Show Has Seen!

3.Toya- I'll Admit i strongly disliked her the first two weeks. Her Treatment of Jale and Christopher was Despicable. I Hated how her and Helen would Call Christopher the ''Wasp'' and Make Wasp Sounds. I also Hated her Licking Pauline's Backside and agreeing with everything she said and did. She won me over when she took down Winston, Ash and Marlon and Changed Sides to Ashleigh's Gang.

Liked to disliked:

Leslie (CBB14) - I liked him a LOT at first but he became too entitled / judgmental / argumentative for his own good (still thought he was ok though but nothing like I felt at first)

Renee (CBB18) - I actually mildly liked her at first despite some problematic stories, she was kinda funny, but then she became miserable and almost like a monster

Lewis (CBB18) - One of my favorites on launch and in the early going but he just became pretty boring and randomly aggressive/vile at times... to the point I could not like him despite loving both Bear AND Marnie

Lotan - Here's someone I think gets waaay over-hated but I liked him a lot in the beginning and then felt like he was trying to be the voice of reason and egotistical leader of the house too much and just went downhill in a blaze

Courtney/Shane J - Fun, sort of educating, refreshing character at first but he became a bit vapid over time and he & Andrew were just sooo boring and cringey together


Disliked to liked:

Frenchy (CBB14) - although I only disliked her in her VT / somewhat on the launch and it was all uphill from there

Perez (CBB15) - a pre-season dislike and at best didn't care for him early on but he became hilarious and one of my favorites ever in CBB

Sarah (CBB20) - I mean I only slightly liked her in the end and mostly for ironic, comical reasons that aren't even exactly to her credit BUT towards the beginning her constant "poor me" stuff was bad and she was a lot more BORING to even be getting that kind of air time

Definitely more but I can't think right now

i wouldnt say it was such a drastic change but i started liking andrew brady within the first few episodes to disliking him until he left the house and then after he left i ****ing HATED him

Only one really for me I really disliked Helen Wood when she first went in ,but as the show went on she began to be one of my faves and I am so glad she won.

Lozza Carter: started off seeming like a desperate fame ***** and turned out to be the gorgeous fun-loving normal northen lass she promised to be

Mark Byron: found him hilarious at the start and as the series went on his diary room entries and over the top reactions started to become more and more obviously staged

Sandi Bogle: thought she would be a hoot, ended up just complaining

Helen Wood: thought she was vile when it was on and distraught she won but looking back without her that series would have been dire and she did have some amazing one liners (i'm sure if i watched it back now the hate for her would come back but shut it)

Gemma Collins didn't realise how funny her moments were while on air, then she became a meme and she's an icon

Orlaith - Thought I would hate her because she was known as the bore who left after evicting kemal and science but I ended up really liking her and understanding why is walked after my last watch of the series.
Derek - loved him at the beginning and ended up really disliking him towards his last few weeks
Laura - Didn't really like her in the first few weeks and then she ended up being iconic
Pauline - Loved her, then hated her and finally ended up loving her
Jale - I really liked her at fist until I realised she was evil
Simon - he was just a hoot when he got evicted on launch and then he came back and was really boring

Thinking of just a couple of recent ones...

Thought Isabelle would be just another "popular group bore", but ended up being fantastic.

Thought Jonny would be a horrific housemate in the winter series but ended up liking him at the end quite a lot.

Thought Jayne would be a bore, someone who would fade into the background. How wrong was i?

Thought Chad would be the first evicted when i saw his VT and the first few days in the house, ended up being my favourite of the series!

Roxanne pallett: she was actually the reason I created a forum account. A lot of people were calling her fake and overbearing and to me she just seem misunderstood. Who would’ve thought fast forward like 3 weeks and I can honestly say she’s one of the like two people that has ever come on this show that is genuinely evil. Her asking to be called in the diary room, for the convo not to be filmed, for speaking to the producers and staying in the house despite being ‘threatened’. She knew what she was doing. Absolute awful awful awful human being

Sandi Bogle: ugh I was expecting her to be the icon of the series but she was so so so bad argh so arrogant and rude and boring what a letdown

Courtney act: I heard a lot of great things and my first impression was good, the way she handled the india situation was class. But holy god it only got worse from there. The cringy andrew bromance or whatever the **** was so bleh he’s clearly a fake attention seeking **** and she’s a puppy in headlights. Then his attempt of telling people not to speak to Ann because she doesn’t support lgbt stuff was just weird and it’s always a shame when a housemate gets awful and wins anyway. Throw it in the trash like the rest of the series

Jade goody: yeah she was great on bb3 then the whole cbb5 stint was gah

Isabelle: obvious one. Seemed forced for some showmance drama between her and Kieran but she quickly displayed she’s so much more than anyone thought and is now one of my favourite winners ever

Gina: another obvious one but god do I adore her. Great personality and proved everyone wrong

Nikki: transphobic and kinda vile at first but ended up adoring her

Isabelle (BB18) very quickly changed my perception. At first, I thought she was going to be a bore, the typical "LI wannabe" type of housemate that does nothing bar a pointless showmance. Instead, she was one of my favourites in the series.

Pauline (BB15) went from one of my favourites on launch night to the 2nd most dislikeable HM in there, aside from Helen.

Helen (BB15). I voted for her to win and it's genuinely one of my biggest regrets in life, having seen the way she was when she returned for Timebomb, I went back and rewatched lots of the series and realised that actually she's vile and manipulative. not misunderstood as I first thought.

I cant think of any more rn but im sure there are some other big ones

Marnie CBB18 - opinion really started to sour although she was one of my launch night favourites

Chad CBB20 - he was my one of my least favourites on launch night and ended up as my 2nd favourite only to our Sarah ugh king :flutter:

Also w/ Caroline she was entirely different than I thought she would be and yeah she was kinda a vile bitch but also her whole demeanour was kinda hillarous at times and it was a scream that she thought she could just say some theatrical apology and do the same thing the following day :skull: her behaviour was just so bizarre it’s kinda hard to hate her, for me anyway
