View Full Version : Did you ever have a near-death experience?
Eddie.

Yes I did.
So back in Year 9, me and some of my classmates were returning from a competition on a bus.
It was quite late, probably midnight.
At the traffic light, when our bus was still, a van, with a drunk driver almost collided into our bus.
Thank god our bus driver managed to notice it and tried to drive away, the van hit the back of the bus and caused some damage, though all of us were at the front so it didn’t matter.
Though imagine if our bus driver didn’t come to his senses...
Plus the van driver was arrested on drunk driving but I never really knew what happened since then...

Wow.
Rolled a car into a tree, and missed the 2009 tube bombing by 15 minutes due to a long lay in.

I was in the Nice terrorist attack back in 2016. Literally metres away, was absolutely terrifying.

Was given less than 6 months to live, had to have blood tests every other day to see when having the op was no longer put on hold whilst they tried to build up my chances of survival.
Had the op with a 50/50 chance of survival.
Here to tell the tale, but suffer from issues now.

I used to always tell people I was like 12 minutes away from dying because I distinctly remember when I was like 13, that the train after mine had a suicide driver on and a load of people died... but I've tried to google this and never find anything about it

Wow.
Wished I could find news articles but the crash was so Long ago and there were only minor injuries and no deaths so it didn’t really make big news...
Though I have a picture of the wreck SOMEWHERE.

Almost fell out of a rollercoaster when I was 10 because I wasn't strapped in properly, so scary (I was tall enough for the ride)

Not me but my auntie recalls a moment from years ago when she was stood in the garden and moments after moving from one spot to another, a slate fell from the roof and hit the spot where she'd just moved from.
This same auntie has survived being hit by a car and two bouts of pneumonia. Genuinely think she'll outlive us all.

Yes twice ! i was involved in a motorway accident - the hire car had faulty steering and it was reported 'Spectacular somersault crash' the car turned rolled over about 18 times , crashed trough a fence and landed in a water culvert !
Also choked on a piece of steak and really felt myself shutting down, thought i'd had it , but quick thinking partner had me up and did the maneuver pdq and saved me.

..how weird that you couldn’t find it, Withano...maybe you did take that later train with the suicide driver on and you’re a spirit lost on the earthly world thinking you took the earlier train...:amazed:...news stories of train crash disasters might take a while to catch up in your world so you’ve never been able to find it...

I don't know if this counts as near death but I was with a friend in the twin towers in New York the day before the terrorist attack. We went to the top of the North tower and they were so majestic,I have some things that I brought in there that I treasure now.

Twice, but my quick reactions saved me both times.
One was high up on some scaffolding which I almost fell off and the other was running out in front of a bus.

My bus stop is over the road from my house and it's a main road so always busy. Anyway basically I'd checked it was safe to cross and everything so started walking and this car came speeding out of nowhere. the road is on top of a hil so I hadn't seen him at the bottom. I literally just froze in the road because I had no idea what to do and the car managed to stop literally centimetres in front of me. Terrifying.

YES
In high school during baseball practice someone hit the ball really far so I was going back to catch it and I went all the way back to where the track/gymnastics/etc. team were practicing throwing those spears (idk what you call them exactly). It NEARLY struck me in the head, I felt it graze right by me with a gust of wind.
I was so focused on going to catch the ball that I didn't hear/realize people were yelling for me to stop. If it struck me in the head I would've been very injured if not dead. :worry:
There was one field/track connected altogether in my high school but idk why they had those people practicing at the same time as a baseball practice was going on all the time. It's really dangerous!

Also a possible car incident similar to Morgan's but for me I wasn't paying attention to the road as I was talking to someone. I went to cross and this car sped past me and the right side mirror grazed my arm / shirt sleeve.

Yeah in a way I did remember years ago the july london bombings
Well my year at school had booked to go to london on that day and one of the activities was to go on the london underground. A few days before the trip was cancelled to this day i still dont know why. But then when i saw on the news what had happened the day we were supposed to be in that location it terrified me
Granted we might have not been there at that exact moment but we could have been
My heart goes out to those thay sadly were there at that moment

Nearly drowned at the beach. Was pulled up by my friend after stepping into an underwater drop when already up to my neck in the sea. She had a rubber ring on - I didn’t and she pulled me back. Never liked deep water after that.

No that’s perfectly fine!
Basically, me and my family were sat outside a bar/restaurant finishing our meal and drinks after it had been the Bastille celebrations on the beach. We were at one of the sea front bars on the promenade and basically all I heard was people screaming ‘RUN’ (well those screaming in English) among other things, all heading towards us. I just ran; ducked down inside one of the bars on the promenade (I was unsure what was happening, it was just chaos, I don’t think anyone knew what was going on.) and then the owner of the bar let the people inside come up stairs for safety (there was about 20 of us, mainly French, but a lovely older couple from Newcastle who looked after me).
I managed to find my mum and stepdad who were sat outside the bar still by seeing them from the window in the apartment. I didn’t actually see the van, just heard gunshots and saw a few dead bodies in the road. Absolutely awful.
I’m not scarred by it, I was at first but I don’t think of it much anymore.
Ashley.

I suppose the closest I've ever been was when I was younger, I swam under some rocks which were below the surface, ended up getting lost among them and struggled to find my way back to open water. I was stuck underneath for about two and a half minutes and had a panic attack once I eventually reached the surface.
