Oh wow... I had read yesterday or the day before he had stopped treatment? It didn't seem like he was declining that quickly...

Such a great man.

Trump must be delighted.
Pity, one of the very few principled republicans left is gone when most needed

Do you REALLY envisage Trump being 'delighted' that this man has died?

It'd be naive not to. He was a thorn in trumps backside for years

Like the healthcare bill which McCain killed for him?

Trump doesn't respect his own people let alone those against him

Sure that was the important one he blocked.
But "Other Votes" went ahead.

Yes Trump is like no other President
that's why he won.

Another great man lost to that awful disease.

Didn't he make oven chips?

Why was he a great man? I thought he was a warmonger? an establishment opportunist making money from death?

Rest in Peace Senator McCain, one of the few bipartisan politicians left in a country that is screaming out for them.

Arizona will find it tough to find someone who can live up to him.

I opposed him when he ran for president but he did his damnedest to stand against Trump and I respect that. One of the few respectable Republicans.

It's telling ungracious of trump not to acknowledge his passing, however from the comments he made regarding Mccains time as a POW it's for the best ... It wouldn't be taken seriously from a draft dodger.

The left absolutely hated McCain until he opposed Trump, and now.

Trump derangement syndrome is real.

When was that tweet?... I was not 'wrong' he made no mention of the death in the speeches he made following his death, as was noted by the media at the time.

It was a tweet! at 1.44am ... are you suggesting that is adequate acknowledgement? I disagree.

"The President has inexplicably shown our adversaries the deference and esteem that should be reserved for our closest allies," McCain said. "Those nations that share our values and have sacrificed alongside us for decades are being treated with contempt. This is the antithesis of so-called 'principled realism' and a sure path to diminishing America's leadership in the world."

Wonderful Mcain quote, maybe it was the realisation of his own mortality that allowed him to frame his perspective so clearly?

He sounded like a tough fella.Somebody on Sky News said that when he was a POW and they were going to release him he refused to go because there were other men who were due to be released before him. There was a first in first out rule.
His punishment for refusing to leave was apparently broken ribs and broken teeth.
Politics aside he was a brave man.

You don't need to share the political views of someone to respect the contribution made by them both in the Vietnam war and in public life. Trump showed complete disrespect. He blocked the communication the White house was going to send out and he broke with tradition today by insisting the white house flag be put back to full mast again today rather than it staying at half mast until the funeral, which is a standard for ANY senator.
