The Bachelor to return to Channel 5

ITV2's Love Island could be about to meet its match as Channel 5 is revamping The Bachelor.

This year's villa-set show remained as popular as ever, with the final episode pulling in the biggest ITV2 viewing figures of all time as Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham claimed the top prize, but it looks like Channel 5 are hoping to challenge that.

Channel 5 previously aired two series of The Bachelor UK in 2011 and 2012 and now Deadline reports that the series will be making a comeback as a new 10-part series will start filming in South Africa this autumn.

The original Bachelor series in the UK aired between 2003 and 2005 on BBC Three, before being snatched by Channel 5 and turned into a celebrity vehicle starring Made in Chelsea's Spencer Matthews and rugby player Gavin Henson.

In the US, the format – which sees a single eligible bachelor and a pool of romantic interests date and get to know each other as the bachelor searches for The One – has proven much more popular, running for 22 seasons and launching several spin-offs, including The Bachelorette.

The revamp wouldn't be the first time broadcasters have tried to emulate the success of Love Island in recent years, as recent reality efforts include ITV2's Survival of the Fittest and MTV's True Love or True Lies? for starters.

Elsewhere in the reality star universe, Jack Fincham has revealed what happened when he finally met his girlfriend's famous dad, Danny Dyer.

"It went well! We went and had an Indian," he said. "We just chilled out at (Dani's) for (her) birthday, went and picked up the takeaway with Danny Senior."

The drama has been SO messy but in a weirdly enjoyable kind of way, I'd watch it and see if you like it. There's been about 7 episodes so far and about 4 of them have been really good?

The Bachelor is so ****ing annoying though and so is Mark Wright. Oh and one of the black girls randomly gets labelled as "incredibly rude" even though there's been white girls having physical fights with each other who end up as front runners :skull:

Slay @ the series villain actually winning <3 She was the only good thing about the series once most of the entertainment left.

But it's so damn hypocritical to send Tonique home for being 'rude' and 'aggressive' when the girl he chose as the winner literally tried to CHOKE another girl in a physical fight in the second damn episode :skull:

Can't see this getting a second season (even tho it wasn't actually that bad as a whole) but if it does then it needs more diverse casting and a better, more consistent, less hypocritical Bachelor
