[Brazil presidential election: Jair Bolsonaro,
dubbed country's Donald Trump, wins contest
The former army captain won around
56% of the vote, in a win many fear
could spell disaster for civil liberties.]
[His numbers jumped by around
15% in September after he was
stabbed in the stomach during a campaign event.]
All change in Brazil.

Brazil are now being led by a man who endorses ethnic cleansing, mass-murder of civilians, fathers killing their gay sons and shutting down Congress to become a dictatorship, so no, I don't think "good" is the most appropriate word to use here

Not sure where you cut and paste that from or if you think any of it was part of what he was elected on (ie policy) but I would wager the Brazilian people, fed up with mass corruption, fed up with 4 left wing useless governments etc fancy a change
and that is what they have done
Brazil isnt the UK, get over it
Whu, too much woke-ness? ... "How to wake up rested and alert"...
These comments from this guy though. Whoa...
Conservative’s Star Rises in Brazil as Polarizing Views Tap Into Discontent

RIO DE JANEIRO — In one verbal assault from the podium of Brazil’s Congress, Jair Bolsonaro told a fellow legislator that she was not worthy of being raped by him. “You don’t merit that,” said Mr. Bolsonaro, a former army parachutist.
In another episode, the congressman described his abhorrence of homosexuality. “I would be incapable of loving a gay son,” said Mr. Bolsonaro, 61, the father of five children. “I prefer that he die in an accident.”
Right-Wing Presidential Contender in Brazil Is Charged With Inciting Hatred
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/14/world/americas/brazil-president-candidate-hate.html
The charging document against the younger Mr. Bolsonaro, 33, included a transcript of an exchange on a messaging application in which he called the journalist, Patrícia de Oliveira Souza Lélis, a “*****” and a “vagabond.”
In the exchange, according to the transcript, Mr. Bolsonaro said that he would “ruin her life” and “make her regret having been born.” The news site G1 quoted a representative of Mr. Bolsonaro as saying that he had not threatened anyone.
Jair Bolsonaro: Controversial far-right politician elected as Brazil's next president, beating rival Fernando Haddad

Once asked what he would do if one of his sons dated a black woman, he said "I don't run this risk since my sons were very well educated."
And more recently, he also defended accusations that he was a rapist, telling a fellow member of Parliament: "A few days ago you called me a rapist in the Green Room, and I said I wouldn't rape you because you're not worthy of it."
I'm sure there are other politicians in our ranks that probably sound/act like this guy. I just don't think we hear about it is all...

Brazil’s recently sworn-in President Jair Bolsonaro will debut at the World Economic Forum in Davos eager to present a new, more open and business-friendly country to the world.
On his committee are the powerful economy minister Paulo Guedes, the famed anti-corruption tsar Sergio Moro and the outspoken foreign minister Ernesto Araujo, according to a Brazilian government official involved in the preparations.
The objective is to sell a new image of Brazil after years of economic and political crises. Former President Michel Temer, who left office last week, had suffered ongoing questions of legitimacy and secured few significant bilateral meetings. By contrast Klaus Schwab, the executive chairman of the World Economic Forum, has invited Bolsonaro to give a luncheon speech during the event.
Eager to showcase the country’s shift to a pro-U.S. foreign policy, Bolsonaro is hoping to crown his trip by meeting with President Donald Trump.
