Housemate Pictures

This might be a stupid observation but do you think that the pose people have in their official HM pictures is used sub-consciously by BB to portray them in a certain light?

They obviously do more than one pose and BB producers pick one as their main official picture.

Just by looking at a picture, I tend to already get a perception of housemates.

Like if you look at Laura's, it's very smiley and natural with a head on shot. Which is what she turned out to be like in the house. Same with Nicky's & Chanelle's.

When I look at Charley's I find it full of attitude. Which is how I perceived her in the house.

Emily's looks to me as if she's a bit of a brat... that's what I'd think if I saw her picture. And I thought then when watching her audition VT.

Anyone else have any thoughts or do you just take them for face value?

Good point, but maybe they were just all showing their genuine personalities when they were doing their photo shoots, hence the similarity.

Hmm I normally find with Charley that moody look is a look she portrays quite naturally...she probably thinks it makes her look sexy or something! I think the pictures sum them up quite well and you can make your thoughts already on who looks genuine, happy, bitchy, moody or fake etc. I think bb can certainly make people look less or more bad in the house and tonights highlights didn't really show Charley off to be as bad as she is.

I think they are probably told smile, look sexy, look serious etc and pose in order to portray whatever way they said.

Dean from BB2 said in his book about his Big Brother experience that he thought the expressions used in the portraits were selected specifically to characterise the housemates.

It's funny you say that Lance because I've thought similarly. I thought that maybe when the BB people get to know each HM they choose a pic that best suits what they have learnt about them. Take Sol's avatar of Nikki. Nikki is generally portrayed as cool, calm, collected an sweet which you could itemise from that pic. In glittereyes' banner, we can see Carole who we kno as happy, and outgoing. Amanda as sweet and innocent. Tracey as happy and wacky lol. Charley's pic has attitude.

Looking again picture wise the only pictures which don't give much away I feel are Nicky & Shabnam. What do those two pictures say to you all?

I don't think that Channelle or Sam's pictures give too much away either.

Hmm, Manbash Shabnam's pic seems to show confidence?

That's a good point - even if their personalities may be exaggerated in the HMs' VTs, I think the pictures do capture a sort of characteristic/personality trait that you can apply to them.
