Sam Ballard, from Sydney, Australia,
was 19 in 2010 when he ate the
creature which was infected with rat lungworm.
Mr Ballard, who was a keen rugby player,
fell into a coma for 420 days after
contracting a strand of meningitis
called eosinophilic meningoencephalitis.]


I can see a dare at 19 years old would be funny.
but this was Tragic as the deadly "rat lungworm"
was inside the slug.

tbf he was probably drunk, and people do a lot of silly stuff when they are drunk or high, most people get away with it, he wasn't so lucky, spare a thought for what his family have gone through

As much as the kid dying is awful, it was self inflicted and he put his family through years of hell and now years of grief. For a dare.
