a giggling mannequin. Things would run a lot smoother. And Dec wouldn't even notice any difference.

Ikr, this is a serious news programme. Ant & Dec NEVER muck around and pull faces and giggle, and wince at the trials. NEVER.

Willoughby should be absolutely ashamed of herself for reading autocues and doing what she's there to do.

Can't see much of a difference in the way Holly acts compared to how Ant acted alongside Dec... I do wish criticising men was as easy for some people as criticising women.

Ant.

She seemed a little out of place on the first night but she's been amazing with Dec and the chemistry is apparent

I've not heard any criticism on Holly yet tho

Just Dec?

Well that's just plain ignorance of what's happened on screen.

Unless you had any sort of evidence to back up that accusation, that is quite a silly and ridiculous thing to say. As far as I'm concerned, gender has nothing at all to do with it. If a male had stood in for Ant and gave a similar atrocious performance, he'd have got the exact same critique.

Atrocious performance? :joker: She's literally presenting a TV show, not partaking in the live finals of the X Factor.

Holly doesn't really have a lot of personality imo, she's like a more extreme version of Tess Daly from SCD where they come across as nice women, but they're only really hired for their looks whilst Claudia/Philip/now Dec does all of the jokes/main elements of their shows such as interviewing the contestants and telling you what's gonna be coming up in the next segment.

As I've said I have nothing personal against Holly (nor Tess for that matter) but I can understand why some people would be critical of Holly's presenting skills as it's non-existent.

It was never going to be the same as Ant & Dec no matter who they picked, so people are being overly harsh.

Even if they'd have picked someone like Stephen Mulhern he'd have had the "trying to be too much like Ant" criticisms thrown at him.

I am personally glad that they didn't carbon copy Ant's role on the show, but I do wish that it was someone that has a bit more about them than Holly who if you see DOI doesn't really do much on the show.

This isn't DoI.

And there isn't much to do on DoI but read an autocue.

Do you want her to balance a ball on her head and juggle at the same time?

Philip does most of the presenting on DOI and that's a fact, ITV hardly give Holly any of her own segments other than going to the next judge to comment on a performance, ITV treat her with very little respect on that show imo.

IAC are doing better with her, but she does need to project more personality imo.

I never said it wasn't a fact. Whether she's asking the judges for comments or not, she is doing a job as a presenter. The fact is the show isn't about them.

Do you want her to figure skate topless or something?

How so? She chats to the contestants when they see them, she takes part in the "bits" with Dec and reads the autocue between segments and reads out the phone numbers.

Do you want her walking a tightrope at the same time?

Les Dennis.

Dec needs an authority figure like Ant. Look at how little Dec has become a strange and lonely young person without his father figure?
I am very worried about British TV's most talented weirdo.

I suggest Les Dennis.

They look like a father and son, and I know Les is a strict disciplinarian, and enjoys spanking.

I think she is doing a great job. Ant and Dec are a comic duo..their presenting format is based on comedy that requires perfect timing to work...and they have been doing it for years. Holly has never done anything like that before but she's quick witted and filling the role perfectly. Tonight saw them naturally bouncing off of each other...and she is feeling more at ease.
She's doing great..not many could do that.

Yeah and i wish gender would stop getting mentioned  , I'm a woman myself and i thought Holly WASN'T the best choice for Dec's co presenter and it's that simple  .

Plus when you get a comedy duo that's been working together for years!!! , it's hard to copy or replace that kind of chemistry.

I would of felt the same way if Ant & Dec were women and if Ant still got replaced by the wrong person .

Yes Holly is gelling more with Dec now and she's trying the banter , but she still seems a bit out of place especially at trials .

I think you're confused. Gender is only mentioned on the grounds that Dec specifically wanted to work with a woman so as not to feel like Ant was getting a replacement. Not that she's above criticism because she's a woman.

(Although there is some validity to Ashley's comment about holding men and women to the same standards).

it's hard to copy or replace that kind of chemistry.

Which is what they're not trying to do. She's merely company for Dec whilst Ant isn't working. Literally all it is.

she is unable to play the role Ant plays as they swap delusion between them as ant and dec. Women are not as funny as men and that is a fact, fight it if you want but just have a look around

its nature innit

She is ok but lots of presenters could have done a similar job for a fraction of the cost tbh

Sadly neither of those two things make her a good presenter. She's really got on my pecs over the last few nights. Hurry back Ant...

I really like her as a presenter, she's warm and funny and cheery. She's made me laugh much more than Dec has so far. It's subjective. I love Ant and Dec but tbqh I was finding their double act on IAC abit old so I welcome the change of dynamic this year

Claudia Winkleman is one of the most naturally funny people on TV in my opinion. Victoria Coren, Roisin Conaty, Katherine Ryan, Jennifer Saunders, Sarah Pascoe, Catherine Tate, Jo Brand, Miranda Hart...

She's just bloody everywhere though. And sometimes when I have to spend time at my mothers and This Morning is on, I get an uncontrollable urge to kill both her and Philip Schofield.

Holly seems like a lovely, warm person, and she is not a bad presenter. However, I would like to have seen Dec paired with someone more naturally humorous than Holly. To me, there is no chemistry between them and humour isn't bouncing between them in the way it might do with the right person.

I can see her keeping the job full time tbh

All she's doing is the same as Ant was doing, and that's delivering a script. Probably the exact same script writers that were there last year. A few shows in and she's more than holding her own.

In fact, I think she's brought a new element to the trials. I really love seeing her reactions, both at the 'icky' bits and her celebrations as they get stars. Refreshing to see.
