Simply because the dinghy's
are unsafe filled with loads of men.
They would drown

Thats why the Clever Criminal Smugglers
take them in a boat near our waters

surely you have seen that vid where a car was stopped some place, and they found about 15 people in the car ..... that was amazing as they all came out.

I think it was over a week or two, rather than a single dinghy journey.

Either way, they should be stopped.

To keep one country strong you have to keep others poor.

I don't know about "strong", but to keep us living the lifestyle to which we've become accustomed, yes this is sadly true. Although advances in automation also mean that fewer and fewer man hours are needed, whilst populations continue to swell. And we wonder why those populations are starting to "leak out" in dinghies :idc:.

Ment to say rich, people do forget that if they were born and in those countries they would also want a better life and get in a boat to try and get it.

I think people lie to themselves and really believe that they would want to "stay and make their country better" (or rebuild it if it's been destroyed by war) if it was them in that position. The truth is that if Britain's infrastructure fell apart tomorrow and people were fighting over the last food in the shops, of COURSE huge numbers of us would be piling our kids onto boats and trying to get to the continent.

It would be better if they were "leaking away" from us than toward us...

It would be better if the industrial revolution had never happened and hadn't lead to half of the world exploiting the other half along with unchecked population boom... but it did, and we are where we are.

We also have pinkie fingers that we can stick in dams when they start to crack, but they're still going to break at some point.

So we should just allow our country to go to **** and let them all in? Nah. Using force til they stop trying is the better option.

I'm saying that our country along with all of the other countries is already well on the way to "going to **** " and there is no way to stop it. Obviously the sensible thing to do is to try to get it under control as much as possible for as long as possible in the hopes that we ourselves, and hopefully our immediate families, get to live out our own lives in relative comfort but at the end of the day it's a sticking plaster on an arterial gusher and the world as we know it is ultimately and inevitably ****ed.

Happy Holidays.

Illegal immigration can't really be stopped but it shouldn't be incentivized. That's about the best we can manage without fully outfitting our borders like a prison... is a policy of deterrence and more enforcement.

I still think though 100 ppl isn't very much when you consider the city here last count I heard was 600,000. That's probably low-balling. Houston is not a sanctuary city so we can't go by registrations. For example, in MD illegal citizens can get a drivers license, as well as vote in local elections in certain municapilities. A quick google has the number of illegals in the UK is 430,000... but being the UK is not so big as the US, that's still a significant number. It's just that 100 people walking/boating in here is hardly news, unless it is like the caravan, a mass migration... but even with laws, our laws have not been enforced. Hence the shock when the US started to enforce what was actually on the books, which has already shows it needs more thought.

Still, how dire must things be abroad for someone to risk their life to get here. Doesn't justify breaking the laws, obviously, but makes sense in their shoes and from their POV. I feel bad, but it is a slipery slope to not have any border laws, immigration policy... is no different to open borders.

In fact, if Brexit occurs and the UK takes back their borders, the damage may already be done to some degree. As relatively half the population never had a problem with keeping open borders. Or whatever the actual number? Theoretically, a sovereign nation is what the people define it to be... so the question will be from here what kind of nation the UK people will predetermine it should be, as far as when it is independent... which is a gray area given increasingly liberal attitudes towards immigration laws. Just some thoughts.

Yes because we as a country never went to another country and took any thing that was worth anything made this country rich and left their country poorer.
