As much as I think a good BLT would cure people of any veganism nonsense, phrases fall in and out of use all the time, and I doubt it's caused by minor eating habits.

Everyone should respect people's diet & food lifestyle.
I don't like how meat eaters get guilt tripped & bullied into stop eating meat . And it's equally wrong for meat eaters to insult & torment vegans.

This is either a made-up story to get everyone talking about veganism... which has worked... or it's being presented by "an academic" who doesn't know much about the English language. Language changes all the time and we still use loads of archaic sayings. How many phrases introduced by Shakespeare are still used today... My mind's eye, green-eyed monster, seen better days, cruel to be kind, own flesh and blood... and of course wild goose chase - although the vegans ain't gonna like that one...

There's no objective argument for humans NOT being the most dangerous animal by an absolutely massive margin? Both individually and as a group. As an individual, an intelligent, resourceful human can kill literally any other animal without getting a scratch on themself. As a group, no other animal could destroy the planet, humans as a collective are definitely going to.
And while "wiped out" is a bit extreme, the best thing for life on planet earth would be for the human population to be reduced by 95% and never increase past that level.
If that doesn't happen, the earth will be a mostly dead rock within the millennium.
And I'm saying that as an out and proud bacon gobbler :smug:

I agree, but if the world turned vegan tomorrow, the planet will die even sooner. Probably within the next ten years... all the factories we’d have to build to make the vegan food just is less sustainable for the planet.
A mass cull of humans is the only answer. I nominate brexiteers to be first for the cut :hee:

Well for one, it's irrelevant "which 5%". For two, it isn't genocide if it isn't race or culture specific (it has to be targetted to be genocide, by definition). For three, you don't necessarily have to kill anyone to reduce population, you just have to stop reproducing.

To be fair, ALL species are greedy and selfish, that's not really something different about us or what's causing us to ruin the world. In fact, humans on the whole are far less greedy and selfish than most species, as we're the only ones with advanced empathy.
The problem with humans is that we're intelligent and skilled and therefore far too good at being greedy and selfish... and too good at adapting, surviving and reproducing. That's what makes us really dangerous.

Humans have a capacity for cruelty not seen in the animal kingdom. There are only a handful of species that will kill you and not eat you. Humans torture and kill animals every day, in every country of the world... not for food, for fun.

For "sport" which is an unfortunate by-product of intelligence and boredom. Sports (including blood sports) originated as practice, for hunting and for warfare, just like for other animals e.g. all species of cats engage in blood sports (killing for thrills and not eating the prey) but it's not actually for fun. They keep hunting and killing even when they don't actually want or need to eat, so that they'll maintain the skills needed to hunt and kill effectively when they DO need them. I don't think my cat has EVER eaten a mouse, but her campaign against the local mice is sustained and brutal :umm2:.
I'm not saying that I agree with hunting for sport - I don't, and I think humans at this point are advanced enough that we should know better (and most people do) but I think the urge to do it, on an instinctual level, is understandable and not necessarily borne of cruelty. Obviously there are some people who are just genuinely and deliberately cruel, but again, I would suggest that the reason most animals aren't "cruel" in the same way is that cruelty involves a more advanced set of emotions and motivations that most animal species just don't have... and if they evolved to the same level of intelligence as humans, it's inevitable that some of them WOULD be cruel, too.

We've infested this planet, filled the ocean up with plastic in just 50-odd years... we never learn from our mistakes and if Nature doesn't find a way to wipe at least some of us out, our future is doomed. People won't slow reproduction, they'll say "It's my right to have a child"... and the poor, uneducated people will still reproduce while the richer, more educated people won't. It's a nightmarish scenario and I have no idea if we'll ever be able to do enough to claw back some kind of future.

The point I was making was How would you know you were talking to a vegan unless they told you that they were vegans? You said every vegan you met "rubbed it in your face" so basically that's how you knew they were vegans, most people don't bring up their diets in ordinary circumstances, so you could have have been talking to plenty who didn't rub it in your face.
As an anecdote, my sons Karate teacher is vegan, I've known him for years, been on trips away with him and the group for competitions, I only found out a couple of months ago that he was vegan because my son mentioned it because he literally never spoke about it whenever I met him..because people don't usually talk about what they eat in normal life unless the topic specifically arises.

You don't think calling a whole group of people weak, intolerant and all-imposing based on their diet because of a few people you've met is nasty? Bloody hell, banging my head off a brick wall here then, clearly.
What I actually find hilarious is some (not all of course ;) ) meat eaters reactions to vegetarians and vegans, it's ultra defensive even alot of times when people just say they're either vegan or vegetarian, no preaching just stating the fact that they are. It's really weird.

by and large, I admire vegans and vegetarians, tho still not convinced it is an optimal diet considering humans are omnivores by design
a time will come (the sooner the better) when we will able to grow meat in vats on industrial scale; it will be identical to live animal meat
when that happens people of the future will look back at slaughtering animals for food as barbaric

I heard somewhere (ri xmas lectures I think) that reproduction rates are already falling, even in the 3rd world

Pure laziness.
yup, same as virtue-signalling
you can't show any positive feelings and thoughts like empathy, understanding or tolerance bc that's virtue-signalling
you can't actually possess any virtues, it's all just virtue-signalling
suppose people like Jesus, Buddha or Gandhi made virtue-signalling their full time occupation  lefty bastards

Apparently, certain blood groups suit being veggie(A) and certain suit eating meat (O) and B apparently is good with both. I've not actually looked into that very much though so I'm not sure how scientific it is
There is a book on that subject called Eat right for your blood group or something like that ! Most people don't even know what blood group they are.

Well it says Type O (which I am) should eat high protein and avoid grains, which is historically the diet I function best on (but I love carbs :bawling: ).
However that's anecdotal and there's no real evidence at all that blood-type-diets are real and not just baseless naturopath nonsense :joker:.

Yeah I only found out my own blood group when I was pregnant, I'm A+ so veggie diet should suit me according to that

Yeah, I haven't really looked into it and whether or not there's any truth to it

All the steak and chicken tikka I’ve been eating from Subway obviously wasn’t real meat then.
You’re not funny.

this is one of the resons why PETA's post really pissed me off people are now looking at this and putting this mess on all of vegasm. Let it be clear that when peta made they post they were dragged by everyone vegans, non vegans, people who don't eat....
another thing that pissed me off is that this is just another in many of peta's borderline rascist tweets in which they liken black and jewish peoples experiances to what animals are going through....They've been called out on it so many times but keep doing it. As a black vegan I don't claim them, I mean they routinely murder a bunch of animals themselves though....
