I don't think I'll ever be able to answer this... BTW has some absolutely mind-blowing songs, ARTPOP is just so fun, and Joanne holds a very special place for me. Also, the ASIB soundtrack is incredible!

Born This Way was Gaga at her peak, the public loved her, she was interesting and the music was great. There probably wasn't one really bad song on the entire album.

Fame Monster is a close second for the same reasons as above, although its a shame it was more like an EP of The Fame rather than its own thing

Artpop is third because although this was where her popularity started to decrease rapidly, the songs are still pretty good and looking back I think I can appreciate them more now than at the time

Fame/Joanne joint last. Fame was good for the era as a whole but the album tracks are pretty poor. Joanne was good in the sense that it restored a bit of popularity and made Gaga 'normal' again, but imo the songs are very basic and Miley and Kesha's country albums far outshine Joanne

I’d argue the perception of the BTW era is what caused the ARTPOP decline, myself.

the thing that annoys me about gags is that shes very similar to madonna in the sense that she tries so hard to be noticed, especially while on tour, like smoking weed on stage and that woman who was sicking up paint over her and just stupidity like that

whereas when the music good, it speaks for itself

Idk, I feel the antics for both almost always are justified as they complement the songs well. It’s all art.

The Fame Monster was a brilliant album and I still listen to it occasionally. I even liked half of BTW, but I didn't care for Joanne or ARTPOP (except for "DWYW")
"Always Remember Us This Way" from ASIB is the first track I've enjoyed from her in years.

The first four are undeniable career highlights, but for the most part the rest of the album is filler that for me pushes the Fame comfortably to the bottom of the pile. Have you listened to Joanne? :eyes:

I did at the time (albeit this was when it was first released) and I literally didn’t like any of the songs besides Dancin’ In Circles :eyes: (and that isn’t as good as the 7 I named, oops.)

What's wrong with my choices?!

I know taste is subjective, and I'm not a Gaga fan* so can't go into why I'd rank them like that beyond "it's just what I like", but what quantifiable things make them worse than the rest of her stuff?

*I don't mean I dislike her or her stuff, but she's not a performer I specifically love
