[The average age of a BBC One viewer is
now in their 60s – meaning a large proportion
of people who consume many of the
corporation’s flagship services are not paying for it.]

This about
BBC says channels may close without over-75s licence fee

[The BBC has said it will have to close channels
and make enormous cuts to
its services unless over-75s are
made to pay for the licence fee,
as it prepares to cover the loss
of government funding that
currently allows older people to
consume its content for free.]

[Free TV licences for over-75s were
introduced by the then chancellor,
Gordon Brown, in his 1999
budget to try to reduce pension poverty.
He agreed that the cost of providing
the universal benefit should be
paid by the Department of
Work and Pensions to the BBC
to ensure the broadcaster’s budget was not hit.]

Apart from Match of the Day and Saturday Kitchen and the odd drama , I rarely watch the Beeb, I do listen to the radio though, although I find the above hard to believe as most of the people that seem to watch EE are under 25, and programmes like Strictly have a very mixed age range, I think its just nonsense to get their scrappage of the free licence fee for the over 75s through, scrap some of the big salaries would be a good start instead of targeting their viewers

Because most younger people are on tinternet and a lot of oldies aren't.

My dad thinks Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and J.R Mogg are bad and that Theresa May is good, he gets all information from the mainstream, so of course he thinks that.

Scrap the licence fee altogether and drag this dinosaur into the 21st century like all other channels.

Also scrap multiple presenters of shows when one can do the role easily enough, or should be as able to.

At best I watch the BBC less than 4 hours a week, if that.
Things like Strictly would be snapped up by other channels if not on the BBC.

I honestly wouldn't miss it at all.
However the free licence fee should stay, as I said earlier however, just scrap this abhorrent fee completely and then compete like every other channel.

Considering it is owned by the BBC, no it wouldn't.

If the BBC dumped it, I'd bet a rival show would easily surface.
No problem.

Not likely to be dumped when it's one of their biggest shows and has spawned multiple foreign counterparts all owned by BBC Worldwide.

Well if its not likely to be dumped no worries if the licence fee was scrapped then.

I'm sure advertisers would be queuing in a massive line to get included in ad breaks during the show.

I'm not sure why you're talking as though we have the licence fee for Strictly Come Dancing.
