View Full Version : Am I being unreasonable?
Amy Jade

So my mum has used a certain vet for 5 or so years (Rose Cottage Vets, for enquiring minds) and I have taken my dog there for 3.
Just found out the vets surgeon Elizabeth Gorse is a fox hunter and I want my dog to go elsewhere and cancel the booked in flea treatment for this week, for my mind if you actually enjoy watching an animal be ripped apart in terror you cannot be s true animal lover. My mum is fuming but I am standing firm, I can't hand-on-heart support a vet who enjoys fox hunting.
Am I being unreasonable?

More selfish than unreasonable.
I don't care what my doctor gets up to in his free time, as long as he does his job and tries to help me from illness.
Don't let you're own ideology get in the way of the treatment of the dog. Fox hunters are good members of the community too.

There’s a difference between a doctor going fox hunting and a vet going fox hunting
There’s a difference between a doctor going fox hunting and a vet going fox huntingNo there isn't, it's 2 human beings going fox hunting.

That's false analogy.
Suitable analogy would be going to Harold Shipman who was probably a competent doctor, but killed people for sport on the side.

Chasing an animal to the point of exhaustion and killing it mercilessly is in-humane. What I don’t get is that she chose to work in an environment that helps animals. Also, any vet must be professional and provide a good service to customers, otherwise she’d be ******

Yeah, I changed Vets a few years ago for that reason, not because the Vet was Fox hunting, he just didn't have a good bed side manner, I feel like maybe he spent alot of his time with "working" or farm animals so viewed them as commodities rather than peoples pets or companions. Well meat eating is the "norm" in our society so I would say no. Hopefully sometime in the future it won't be the norm though :p
Also, I would say that eating meat is a bit different than spending you leisure time hunting down and killing an animal for the lols
Yeah I understand , like I said it is strange & unkind the whole fox hunting especially where a vet is concerned.
And Amy has every right to refuse that vet if she wants.
But some would argue if the person still does a good job then her personal hobby shouldn't matter .

I understand your views
You have a right to change vets.

You could of course argue that, I think it comes down to the individual though and how much this particular "sport" bothers them. For me personally, it would make me look at that person very differently and I would not be comfortable, indirectly I guess funding that hobby for them, if you get what I mean?

Yeah I completely get it , I'm not a fan of Fox hunting either . But I'm not sure I'd refuse the person's service based on that  . Plus what if the vet never shared their love of Fox hunting , you would still go to them without ever knowing . So it's one of those strange things.

That would be your choice and obviously if you don't know something you can't react to it. Just to add to how vile this vet is she and her group were caught illegally hunting next to a wildlife sanctuary and hospital and had to be escorted off the property as the owner had no idea they were on their land.
There is even a video of Elizabeth Gorse smiling as she rides past someone asking if it was inappropriate to be hunting close to a wildlife sanctuary.
So so SO glad my Cherry will never be seen by her again.

Well that settles it then. She obviously has no remorse for those animals and would go as far as to trespass into a wildlife sanctuary to kill these animals. I’m glad Cherry is in safe hands with another vet

Please tell me how you know this.
It's simple size and agility. Dogs can get to places horses cannot. Foxescdontcget caught in the open on a lush verdant open field
Fox hunting is more a traditional day out and a ride on the horses. Most never keep up with the hounds nor witness a kill

She can go on a ****ing ride anytime she pleases, but that's not enough for the sadistic bitch
If you've constantly got your arm shoulder deep up a ****ting cows arse hole on a daily basis I can imagine the initial love of animals you may or may not have had at vet school wouldn't last long.

The dogs drag the fox out into the open, literally watched a video from Cheshire Hounds the hunting group (which the woman you are defending is proudly part of) where a guy pulls a petrified injured fox out of its warren and throws it to the dogs to kill.
I get you are just defending her for a reaction but you really need to try harder.

So you still can't believe that anyone would disagree with you despite the faux question opening
Do you not see that it's this attitude that is the actual problem?

People can disagree that's not an issue.
I will debate my point though and treat people with the respect they treat me with. :)

In this thread lt is playing the part of the fox as tibb members hound him from one page to the next.
It’s done, all those that have posted have made their position clear.

Changing the subject, some one needs to post some news threads, like a recent one, in which a woman has been in a coma for 14 years has given birth, she was raped while in a bed in hospital,

Ahhh LT. Forever the Devil's Advocate.
Why would anyone want to spend their hard earned cash on a vet who hunts? Why would anyone let someone who kills animals for fun, look after your pet? Hunting is illegal and even if it wasn't, the vast majority of the population think it's abhorrent. Anyone who hunts but doesn't eat what they kill is a ****.
