There was a group gasp when singer Kelsy Karter revealed that she'd had a Harry Styles tattoo, on her face, but that wonderment has turned to anger now that the truth is out.

It would have been a big revelation if it had turned out to be a real tattoo but there has been a huge backlash towards Kelsy, now that it has been revealed as fake and part of a marketing campaign.

The 24-year-old has unveiled that the tattoo was a promotional stunt for a new Harry Styles inspired song, in an Instagram post to her 78,000 followers.

In a video titled, 'How I rocked the entire world for $300,' Kelsy revealed that the song was recorded more than six months ago with Harry as the subject.

She revealed in the clip: "What would the rock legends that inspired me have done in 2019? To pull this off, we needed a celebrity tattoo artist, [Romeo Lacoste] to make it look real…

"He traced Harry‘s 2017 Rolling Stone cover, applied it to my face, and then a special FX makeup artist did her thing.

"BTW. We know it looked ridiculous. That was the point."

Kelsy added: "The tattoo was not real. I love that Harry has introduced rock to a new generations of fans. Plus he’s nice to look at…

"This has always been about Rock & Roll. Harry is an anthem for the fans. The tattoo is gone.

"All that’s left is the music. Which is what my rockstar team and I had planned all along."

The 1D fans were vicious in their assessment, with one commenting: "You’re not a real artist and your music sucks but on top of that you have no fan base to get views."

While another furious fan wrote: "It really upsets me when any girl tries him like this it’s really bad secondhand embarrassment"

A third fan believed they were speaking for Harry, commenting: "Harry Styles is a legend who can’t be *******ed with he won’t respond to mess like this honest."

Kelsy had pretended to have had the tattoo done by Los Angeles based artist Romeo Lacoste and posted the finished effort on Instagram, captioning it: "Mama, look what I made me do."
